  1. P0420 cat efficiency It's just had a reconditioned engine put in as total loss of coolant caused the original to sieze. Whether or not this could cause an issue with the cat I have no idea, but the exhaust also needs replacing in two places as it's coming apart. My mechanic checked the oxygen sensors and says it needs a new cat to pass the MOT, if the exhaust is in a state then I guess it follows that maybe the whole system has degraded. Performance is deffinitely impacted, which is consistent with the cat having degraded. I wonder if it might be worth replacing the exhaust first and seeing if the cat problem goes away? The code has been cleared off and returns, but obviously there are other issues with the exhaust system at present...
  2. Hi, I have a 57 plate petrol CRV which is throwing up an error code related to the catalytic converter. My usual mechanic who I trust tells me the cat is knackered and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately he can only source a replacement from Honda at a cost of over £1k, so I'm looking for alternatives. Trouble is, I can find 3rd party replacement cats for every flavour of CRV under the sun, but not mine. The Honda parts catalogue tells me my cat is part number 18160-RZP-G01, but there is also a presumably earlier G00 and a presumably later G50. Can anyone advise me if these are all interchangeable part numbers? Will a cat from a later CRV, but same generation and engine code, fit? I can find cats which are listed as for 2010-2012, but want to know for certain if these will fit my car before I put any money down. Any and all advice gratefully received.
  3. Hi, joined as I have a poorly 57 plate petrol CRV and am in need of some help!
