  1. Absolutely brilliant !!!! Keep up the good work 🤣
  2. Yes its the passenger TAKATA air bag. See Trevors earlier post with a link for more info.
  3. Yes that makes sense - some great knowledge on here - Good luck !
  4. Far too complicated for me ! I am still using 2005 sat nav and a TomTom when it gets tricky 😉 Good luck ! Could you not just ask the dealership ?
  5. Hi, " What3Words " can you explain please ?
  6. What a great idea ! BUT the problem is " They " would not allow it !! Common Sense Fairness and Reality would not be allowed - people have been shot for less !! or worse - Guy Fawkes being a good example 🤭 the " System " can not be beaten !
  7. Hi, tons of video`s on youtube - and should not cost a fortune " Good luck jimbojim
  8. Hi all - Find a good independant garage with a good reputation and stick with them !
  9. Hi all, just a thought I am going to fit new rear drop links on my 2005 Accord 2.4 auto tourer - the car has almost 270,000 miles on and they are the originals - I will not pay Honda prices, so the question is = what make should I go for and what make are the Honda originals ? I don`t want cheap rubbish I can get a pair unknown for £11 post free or a pair of MEYLE for £30 post free, I think I am going for the latter but thought I would ask the question anyway - Thanks in advance jimbojim
  10. Hi yes Alan gsd - what people don`t realise is the "lost taxes" as you say - Once petrol and diesel cars are done away with, the vastly reduced number of cars (electric) on the road - the prices rise accordingly as they are slowly but surely doing right now - the shortfall will have to be made up " somewhere " and that includes amongst other things " taxation " the fewer the cars - the higher the cost to everyone, especially on electric car drivers ! If people look at the general PUSH to " Net Zero " now and in the future and do the maths - its obvious what the outcome will be - but people in UK do not seem to see that fact ! The rest of the Western world are now begining to see the truth and are reacting ( France in particular ) but our " system " brands people who speak out about this as " Extreme Right Wing " or " Climate Deniers " Yes the climate is changing as it has done for millions of years and will continue to do so no matter what we do !!!! King Canute springs to mind - its only a few years ago we were being told we are entering a new Ice Age and we were all going to freeze to death !!!! I don`t know what all governments are thinking regarding ( and I am NOT a Conspiracy Theory merchant ) but just cast your minds back to Diesel engines being the best thing since sliced bread ! and Government pushing people to go Diesel - they knew that particulates were a problem but carried on anyway - then years later flipped the other way - Or is it just me ? Anyway rant over, mark my words !
  11. Hi all, another reason is that the " System " has decided that you WILL have an Electric vehicle !!!! If you have an older car, have a minor bump the insurance company decide it is a write off due to 1/ repair costs and 2/ you will no longer be able to obtain parts anyway, and if you can the cost is ludicrous !!!! And don`t forget the " 15 minute cities - 20 MPH speed limit etc., " THEY don`t want cars on the road .
  12. Hi all, its not only the current government ! it is government of all flavours ! Its all to do with " net zero " My car tax has just increased (February) and my car insurance has also increased disproportionately !! The only persons getting new Electric cars are mainly companies and only because of the company tax incentives - The " System " has decided we are going " Carbon Neutral " AND we are going to have to pay for it !!!! China, India and the rest of the world can carry on as usual - but not UK - Oh no we have got to lead the world in this ridiculous race !! What a bunch of numpties. OOooooPs the fun police will be after me 😒
  13. Contact Honda and check ! The AA can carry out a replacement at your work or home if you request it - job takes around 20 mins. Hope that helps.
  14. Hi, its all part of the mad dash to "net zero" road tax has gone up ridiculously - car insurance almost doubled - fuel costs crazy - servicing and repairs are a scandal !!!! a neighbour of mine said recently " I will NOT be getting an electric car " and I replied are you sure ? The system has decided that is the way we are going ! I said if they increase road tax to £1000 and car insurance to £2000 and fuel cost to £30 per litre + you can no longer buy parts to repair ? your car ! what are you going to do ? She replied "get the bus" to which I replied "if you can afford it ! Our system is is crap !!!!
  15. Hi, its difficult, trying to get the dealership to admit they could be at fault ! My local Honda dealer buggered my auto gearbox up, and charged me over £500 to boot !!!!!!! cost me over £2000 to supply and fit a fully recon box from a specialist gearbox company, they were great (Tameside Transmissions) but that does not help you, when it happens have you had a breakdown service out the AA/RAC etc., ? as they could do you a report to prove your point and present it to the dealership - I presume it was a Honda dealer ? Have you asked the dealership if they could "remove/uninstall" the update ? if that is possible ! which could maybe prove the problem ! Also you do not say what car you have or what area you live in - not that it will be of importance, but may help ! Do a search on Youtube for "parasitic drain" The only other thing I could suggest is fitting a solar panel, hope this helps.
  16. This is another tailgate problem I cannot solve - and neither can anyone else ! This has even stumped the AA In summer (warm weather) tailgate works off key fob, both open and close - come winter (cold weather) the tailgate opens off the key fob - gets to fully open - beeps and closes again ?? Really confusing and annoying but not a major problem - someone said (on another site) if the tailgate stays open after opening that this proves the struts are good - but that being the case why not in cold weather ? I have proved that the motor, wiring and struts are working as they should but only in warm weather ! -- So why not in cold weather - it has been like this since I bought the car in 2008 - I am convinced that there is a temperature sensor somewhere that works in conjunction with the tailgate - but nobody has a clue as to where or what it is ! -------------------- That is the puzzle for someone to solve - Good Luck !
  17. SORTED ! Thanks Trevor - I also saw an article on another site = Remove poss then neg terminals from battery, leave for half hour, then open boot, keys in ignition - turn key so dash is lit - do NOT start engine - then close boot lid by hand, refit poss then neg terminals on battery (all in that order) remove key from ignition - press boot unlock button - done I think what I did wrong after replacing the battery was opening the boot manually - not using the key fob, it must have confused the system ! This worked for me !! This resets the boot and all should be fine. Hope this helps someone else.
  18. Just to add - the handbook has no mention of this either and the symbols do not show anything that looks like a tailgate ! So the handbook is useless ! all 506 pages !!!
  19. Hi all, fitted a new battery last week - today I manually opened the tailgate, now it will not " auto catch " so will not lock ! and will not open or close off the fob - was working fine prior to new battery last week, I can not find which fuse that governs it and I don`t want to start pulling fuses willy nilly until I know which is the correct one, the doors lock/unlock off the fob as they should any help welcome
  20. Pam Ayres 🤣😂 Brilliant ! and oh so factual - One of the nicest cars I had was a 1955 Humber Hawk - Superb but also was thirsty - many and various others, 2 Victor 101 `s 1 floor change and 1 column change, and loads of others - about 10 years ago went to look at another 101 with a view to buying it - nostalgia is cruel - the car was gorgeous ! BUT I had forgotten it was an old car ! 0 to 60 twenty minutes - changing gear was like stirring porridge, went round a bend - felt like it was going to jump off the road - I had to plan braking ten minutes prior to stopping - there was nothing wrong with the car, I had just forgotten how old cars drove !! Needless to say I didn`t buy it - as an aside a chap I know in Wiltshire has a Steam powered car, that is something else - if I can figure out how to upload the pictures off my phone I will post them here - I will sign off now, just going to have my tea Best regards Jim
  21. Hi - is the bonnet sensor just a push switch like the door switch that turns the interior light on when the door is opened ? If so you could just depress the switch and tape it down just to check it ! Just a thought !
  22. I bet the woolen trunks were Maroon !!!!!!!!! They all were - it was like swimming towing a 50 lb weight behind you, yes I remember them well - as a teenager we progressed to holidays in the far flung region of Wales called Rhyl or Abergele ! The welsh locals in them days did not take kindly to holidaymakers or " outsiders " as they called them ! An old school chum of mine`s aunt and uncle lived in St. Martins in Oswestry and we went camping in their back garden when we were about 9 or 10, it was like being in another world as the locals all spoke Welsh - his uncle was a foreman at a small local coal mine and he took us down one day with all the miners, as we went down in the cage lift and to the coal face they were all singing - they were going on their shift ! - we were getting a guided tour - amazing and something I will never forget ! You couldn`t do that today ( health and safety ) - years later we took up potholing in Derbyshire, Yorkshire and the Lake District - we were about 15 years old by this time - Fantastic ! I am 76 years young now by the way but still have all my marbles ! Back to the motoring side of things - the first " car " I had was a 1959 "Frisky Sport" powered by an ariel 2T engine ( two stroke ) wish I had it now as it would be worth a fortune - my first motorcycle was a " Royal Enfield Clipper " 250 cc single cylinder bought of my uncle for the grand total of 12 pounds and ten shillings - again now would be worth a lot of money !
  23. Blimey, that video is absolutely spot on - I could have been in that video ! Blackpool was THE place to go in summer - I remember there used to be one stallholder on the front, he had a cane and wore a straw hat - he used to tap his cane on the floor and shout " Come on you silly buggers -get spent up and bugger off home " I kid you not !! We used to go to Belle Vue speedway and funfair on Hyde Road, Manchester - My claim to fame is that I sat on Peter Cravens (2 x world champion) bike in the pits, he spotted me - ran in and shouted "Oi get off there you little bugger" and chased me out of the pits 😁 Now that is fame ! Also I have a photograph somewhere of me sat on the neck of " Sally " the elephant at Belle Vue !!!! Not the first one which was called " Maharajah " but the second one, I was around six years old - if I can find the photograph I will post it here - Memories !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. The Trolley buses only ran on main road routes, I rode on them in the 1050`s and when you got off - Shanks`s Pony took over ! Milk floats only made short journeys ! The invalid carriage was later converted to two stroke power for the same reason - radios were also Accumulator (battery) powered and when they ran flat, you took it to a shop and exchanged it for a fully charged one which cost twopence - they had glass cases and you could see the plates inside - Oh the good old days, bare feet, short trousers and Rickets !!!!
