  1. I broke the bonnet release knob on my 04 2.0 L 'S' (Series 7, 5 Door) and now have to keep a pair of pliers in the glove box for opening bonnet. I don't think replacing the whole cable is all that difficult... but probably a PITA. It goes through the bulkhead, inside inner wing and around the engine bay.. underneath the plastic cowl over the radiator..then just past the bonnet catch and then doubles back to the catch. But..for a few quid..numerous suppliers online have a 'bodge'. It's an alloy replacement knob which fixes to the existing cable end with a couple of grub screws. Has anyone used one? The major difficulty seems to be getting the plastic cover off from around the release cable end in the r/h/ footwell. I can get the outer edge of it away from the door frame, but I can see no way to get the whole cover off without breaking something. It seems to be very firmly fixed to the floor. Please tell me I don't have to start taking carpets out!! Anyone?
  2. 04 Type S 2.0 L 5 door. Original radio/CD player. Does anyone know if there is an 'AUX' input on the back? If so it may be worth me taking the unit out so I can arrange connection of external devices such as phone/MP3 player etc. If not....and given that half the dash and probably the engine, have to come out to allow radio removal..maybe not worth the bother...
  3. Hello!! As above. I have a passenger side front fog lamp with a cracked lens, which works, but I want to replace it. Car is 04 reg. iVtec Type S 2.0 L 5 door hatch. These lamps are all over eBay from China for around £15-25 but the wait is a few weeks and the quality is anybody's guess. On the other hand UK dealers want £288+VAT which is frankly taking 'dealer premium' to ridiculous levels. So...currently trying to source one s/h. So.. my question. Can anyone recommend a source for this part? And does anyone know it is is possible to change it without taking the whole bumper off? Maybe by removing the panel under the car just behind the bumper?
  4. Well that was quick. He says £110 is a good price and recommends going for it.
  5. I have a friend who is a locksmith specialising in Cars/Keys etc. I'll see what he says. He's based in Greater Manchester.
  6. Hello all!.Just signed up here. I may not be a typical member...🙃 OK. I'm 72 and got my Honda in 2012 from my brother, who is younger than me. Most people are... He had it from new in 2004. It's a 5 door 2.0L Type S..which I believe is a fairly uncommon beast. Still only on 72000 miles after 17 years. All original and I have no interest in modifying or customising it. Just hoping it lasts well enough to save me buying another car before I start dribbling or forget my name etc. 🤣. I'm long past the days of changing engines on the drive in midwinter etc, so I leave most work to younger fitter chaps these days, but I do change the oil and filter regularly, plus other 'consumables' as necessary. Amazingly, the only 'repairs' needed from new are calipers all around and an exhaust. Everything just works and keeps working. But... (There's always a 'but'.. 🙂..) I have a short list of minor issues which I'd appreciate help on. Thing is I think Honda screw everything together a bit too well, so that getting to certain bits can be a bit of a challenge. If anyone could offer advice, or point to relevant threads, I'd be very grateful. 1. Need to change a broken front foglight. Do I need to take the bumber off to do this? 2. I'd like to get the (original) radio out to see if there's an 'Aux' input that could be used for rigging inputs from devices such as phone/MP3 player or whatever. 3. I broke the bonnet release pull. I always prefer to do proper repairs and not bodges.. but I've seen the aluminium replacement/repair on Amazon for a few quid. Anybody used this? Will it fit RHD? 4. 'Type S' badge on rear has faded red to pink and won't come back. Replacements are cheapish but... Is existing glued on or screwed on? I can't really tell. Look forward to hearing from folks. I may even get back some enthusiasm for more involved maintenance..
