Hello, I am new to these forums and looking for some help. My son's CRV has showing a dashboard warning light (not sure what). He had a small independent mechanic take a look and the feedback was

The car has a fault with intake air temperature sensor requires modified sensor and a ecu software update, but it needs to go to a Honda garage

I fear that a Honda garage will be an expensive bill for him (young family with three kids). Can this be done by an independent specialist?

    All answers very gratefully received.

PS He lives near Perth in Scotland in case someone can recommend and independent

I would take it somewhere else and get a second opinion, I'd also want to know what fault codes were thrown up on a diagnostic.

After 15 years of owning the FR-V in London, my catalytic converter was stolen yesterday.

Really pissed off. Having seen a post from here the uk.hondaownersclub.com. I've bought a replacement from https://catman.co.uk/

I'm not a mechanic, so hopefully it will have all the bits I need. Then its just another waiting game, as it might get stolen again.

Is this be coming more common?

I've been a member on a Lexus forum for many years and sadly this issue is one of the most common. It's a massive market and most criminals operate in threes, very often with weapons. The whole process only takes 90 seconds. Many owners are having "catlocs" fitted which will deter them as it greatly increases the time it takes to access the cat.

    Hi everyone

Currently own an FRV and an EG hatch (project) . Will use this forum more often than Facebook forums as I try to limit my time on there!!  Based in South West UK

    Cheers

I think everyone would benefit from less time on Facebook!!

Hi there, I am new to the site, not new to Honda and I have been a Honda Car Specialist for almost 20 years now and run a couple of online communities 🤫 but in the best interest of this community, I will keep that info to myself.

So with that said I will have look around to see if I can help some members with my knowledge and experience.🤞

Thanks for reading and I hope everybody has a great 2022. 👍

Always good to have someone with knowledge!

    Hi all,

i noticed last night that the clock on my 2007 ictdi 2.2 series 3 started to have a mind of its own and as started to display differant times despite having reset everything its fine until the ignition is on or engine started strange that this as just come about as we go into 2022 may be related?? any idea's welcome.

Is your 12v battery in top condition? It's surprising how many areas of a car can be affected by a poor battery.

Just came back from local garage, Realised I know the mechanic well, he reckons I will have to take off the EGR valve to gain access, but said be careful as the bolts holding the EGR are prone to shear. He also said there is no space to access it from underneath. Hearing that, I have decided to let him do it. Thanks for your help.

What a great design! At least we learned something new. Maybe worth getting the EGR valve cleaned while its off?

Hi Pee Gee, thanks for the input. Example, I can drive to my daughters, 3 miles away, take her to the shops 2 miles away, sit in car waiting for her with engine idling for maybe 10 minutes before the needle on temp gauge starts to move. Even when the engine is warm, the needle

only shows around third of the way up on the gauge.

It certainly sounds like a duff thermostat. I've changed many thermostats over the years but as I'm new to Honda I'm not familiar with the location.  It seems that Honda hide them lower down than most making them harder to get to. Would you be able to follow the radiator hoses to find its location? One of them will lead to it.  In most cases it's the top one....

Hello, just joined forum, and recently bought FRV 2.2 diesel. I have noticed the engine takes an age to warm up, more so as the weather is getting colder.

I believe the thermostat is either stuck open or is missing completely. I have bought a new thermostat, but looking in the engine bay I cannot see the housing. I think it is under the EGR valve somewhere. Could I access the thermostat from underneath if I removed the plastic engine shield?

Any info greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How long does it take to warm the engine? I've got a 2.2 CR-V and it takes much longer to heat up than most cars that I've had. You should be able to feel if the thermostat is working by the difference in the main radiator hose temperatures.  Generally the lower hose will heat up first, followed by the top hose when the thermostat begins to open.

I have a 2009 CRV that occasionally makes a rattling and clicking noise from the alternator area and the VSA warning light comes on. I think this subject was touched on a few years ago. Would anyone have any further thoughts on this? Any help much appreciated.

Have you checked the auxiliary belt tensioner? They can cause a rattle if the bearing is on the way out. It'll be worth checking all the other pulley bearings that it drives as well

    Hi all

My brother has a Civic and he says it's the best car by far that he has ever owned, and he has certainly owned a few!

I’ve had two CRv. The first one a mid range manual petrol was one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. The second a top of the range black edition auto looked fantastic and had a quality interior however had none of the great driving experience of the cheaper model

i considered going for another Crv but decided due to economise and buy the cheaper HRV eHev

Because I like driving automatic cars I initially tried an auto petrol CR-V but found it just a bit sluggish so I opted for the diesel with the older 2.2 engine. I may be wrong but I felt the vehicle is just a bit too big for a 1.6 diesel. Also the maintenance, which I mostly do myself, is easier on the 2.2, and it has excellent pulling power. I bet you can't wait til March!

I went for meteoroid grey, it was between this and crystal red

was pleasantly surprised with test drive . It was very smooth and handled really well

That's a really nice colour, and the kind that always looks good, unlike some colours that seem to age a car quickly. I've never had a Honda until I got the CR-V, which I basically got when we adopted a greyhound, a big boot with lots of headroom!

Quick update……test drive of HRV advance went will and placed order. Delivery in March

Only slight negative I had with the car was the lack of a proper middle seat in the rear

my wife whose 5ft5 head touched the roof due to the raised base in the middle of the seat

After thinking about it we decided it wasn’t a deal breaker and ordered

So no Mohicans in the rear then! Which colour did you opt for?  A friend has an HR-V and loves it.

So the trick is to not have it posted but sent by FedEx courier instead? Did not know that, that's where I was going wrong then.

A 69 Chevelle, holy moly !!!  would love one of those....in fact any early American Muscle Car would be ideal now

A 60's Corvette is of course the dream!
