SteveK
Hello I have just purchased a new Kenwood DAB radio which comes with a windscreen mounted aerial. I have a 2005 CR-V with the side curtain airbags installed in the front a-pillar. I need to remove the pillar cover to install the aerial. I have looked online and cant seem to find much info on how, and if its safe, to remove it. In the Haynes manual it says any panels with a clip with airbag printed on it should only be removed by an Honda mechanic! I have attached a couple of pictures of the said panel. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards
Trevor
Hi.....welcome to the Forum I have installed wiring up behind the panels before and just tucked it in behind the edge (if the wiring is thin enough) and not had to remove the panels. There is enough space just to run it up alongside the edge of the screen and tuck it in behind the panel
SteveK
Thank you for getting back to me. The only problem is the DAB aerial is 'active' and has a copper earthing pad which has to contact the metal of the a pillar so the trim has got to come off. Trevor
Oh right! probably best not to run anything that may carry any current or electrical signals (including additional earths) that could affect the integrity of the SRS components. Is there anywhere else you can route it through...e.g the base of the windscreen?
