  3. Hi My son is fast approaching 21, thankfully the last of my offspring to reach the milestone. Made a poor choice with my other kids that trail-blazed before him in that they received a car as their 21st birthday present. Joint family effort to combine funds enough to get them something safe and reliable. This now sets a precedent that I cannot avoid, additionally he has also picked up my petrol head affliction and more specifically, he loves all old Hondas. I suspect this is also my own fault as he has been my best companion when out driving my S2000. Many years of he and I giggling as it pings off the limiter to blame for that. I would get him an old S2000 but I fear it would be a very poor choice, at 21 years old such a thing would have rapidly been the end of me and I think it would be the swift demise of him… Well aware of his approaching gift, which he sees as his birthright, he has been hard at work searching for his dream. He has found a Civic EM1 VTi that looks to be solid, have spoken to the owner and asked the normal questions and have not been sufficiently put off yet. The issue is that the car is located a long way away so before I traipse across the country I would like to have it inspected so I don’t waste my time and money. Despite my best advice he found the car through face book market place (in no way sketchy!) which does not inspire confidence in any way at all, even more reason to have it looked at. I don’t think AA/RAC etc would be any good for a car like this, it really needs specialist knowledge of old Hondas and B16. So I am hoping someone knows a decent Honda specialist in the area or could recommend a garage with knowledge of old Hondas that might be able to go take a look at it for me. The car is in Birmingham. Any help very much appreciated, not with the petrol head thing, way beyond help with that :) Cheers

  6. If you can neaten this up a bit, make it square then measure the thickness of the bumper plastic and get the right edge trim from the link I'll stick in, or similar. I had similar with an old beloved Volvo xc70. I used my jig saw and hacksaw and got a straight edge but it needed a bit of trim and makes a huge difference tbh. Also I'd spray all that visible silver metalwork now exposed an ugly looking in a matt finish spray paint or brush, nothing to reflect light back so nobody will even spot it and many towbars and their mounts show rust which is annoying, might be worth giving the new fittings a quick paint over. ps If you paid for that you need to have words or at the very least leave a disparaging review with a pic because that's not a professional standard of work, looks like a work in progress TBH. Good luck. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rubber-Self-Adhesive-Protector-Material-Channel/dp/B0BK83RSZH/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?sr=8-2-spons&aref=BXCCCyRAoG&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY
  7. Hi. Civic 5 door hatchback 2015 (9th gen) 1.6 diesel manual, 66k miles. Bit of advice please. I only do the brakes on this car as the garage does the rest, spring replacement, oil changes etc servicing to keep the service history going, it's a dear game these days looking after a car. It's my wife's car so I don't drive it very often. I need to remove the mahoosive under tray to get to the underside of the engine to investigate an odd noise from the engine bay. The metal section is stuck fast, the fittings have rusted in place and it also appears to have been rivetted although they could be factory fitted, no clue. Anyhow I'm not sure it's going to go back on as many clips are damaged already or missing. Do many of you guys run without the front undertray ok? Got to be better for rust protecting too surely.. I'll also be looking at removing some of the rear under protection as is looks like it's gathering road rubbish, stones etc. I live very rural and our roads are a mess. The other issue is the windscreen spray pump, it's not working. Is it a generic one or a Honda specific part please and is it accessed through the wheel arch liner or another access point please? Thanks.

  9. I would look up to see who your nearest automotive air conditioning company is. Reason being, correct diagnosis and supply of parts (which may be out of stock in most other workshops) Ebay is quite good to look up parts but old Honda parts are getting quite hard to find nowadays
  10. Hi There I need to get a replacement Air Con Unit fitted on our 2005 FR-V 2.0 Sport Petrol car. We are in South East London. Any suggestions on where might do this well for us and where to get the parts from if necessary? Thank you! Ruth

  27. hi all I own honda fr-v 2008 2.2 n22a2 engine but im unable to find the pcv valve. Can anyone please spot its location ? Thanks
  28. Out of lots of bikes I have owned 3 have been Hondas and all have impressed. I drove an Accord for some years until it was written off and later I bought a Civic 1.6 SE Executive for my wife. We have owned it since 2005 and it was used by all the family when needed. Always serviced annually it has not been so thoroughly cared for recently, other than annual oil changes. I would like to think that it could continue giving service either as a restoration project or even as spares for another car. I would like it to go to an enthusiast rather than just a breaker. If no one is interested I will just put it on ebay. The body is reasonable and the engine/gearbox as sweet as ever at around 103000 miles. Underneath is a different story. Still in use with MoT to 03. 04.26 it rocks and rolls like a boat but the leather interior is as comfy as ever. Is it of interest to anyone on here?
  29. WOW! what a wonderful old Honda - cannot say I have seen one of those for at least 40+ years Hopefully someone will buy it to restore it back to its former glory
  30. not sure, sorry! but I would try to find the most reputable rebuilder rather than the cheapest as they are incredibly complex and expensive to put right afterwards. Surprised there are no exchange / rebuilt boxes out there
  31. Looking for an automatic gearbox or sumone who can repair it near glasgow
  32. Replacing the heater fan. Honda FR-V
  33. Hello, My Dad died in August 2025. He had kept an old N600 in his garage for 40 years - always planning it to be his 'next project'! It is not in good condition, but I would say it's surprisingly good for 40 years! It hasn't run since approx 1985 - so it would require a complete rebuild. I'm not hoping for much - would just like it to be of some use to someone! At the very least, is there a market for spares etc? (ps: the photo is a bit sad - I have since cleared away all of the surrounding rubbish! As you can see, the engine and chassis are still 'in one piece'!)
  34. Hi i am trying to remove the screws which holds the fan blow, first 2 screws are easy to access, however, the third screw is difficult to get to, has any replace fan blower on FRV or has any tips on how to reach the third screw? Thanks
  35. eBay link to a Smoke Generator: Smoke Generator
  36. Also, it could be leaking through the tailgate seals or even rear screen washer hose is damaged and allowing water to drip into the boot area. The ultimate way to resolve the issue is to run a Smoke Generator inside the boot area and see where it comes out from
