  1. Mine is a 2008 1997cc AWD Manual Petrol Exec and on a work journey to Eastbourne last week I averaged 35-37 MPG The problem is we never know how accurate the Speedometer /Mileage Meter is on some cars but working on the fuel consumption I think thats about right without thrashing it and driving at a steady 60 mph where applicable due to heavy traffic and the inevitable Road Works on this route.     Hi Kath Had the same problem with mine when I bought it, There is a simple adjustment you can do yourself, Inside of the center console between the front seats ,remove the bottom cover, it just lifts out and you will see the handbrake cable with the adjustment nut, with a correct size spanner think its a 10 or 12 mm turn the adjusting nut a few turns to tighten the brake cable as advised in your Hand Book and this should solve your problem.
