CR-V 2001 to 2006

  1. I'm trying to fault find a 2006 RD9 2.2 Diesel CR-V. Intermittent crank no start. When working (i.e. crank and start) ignition is switched on a range of lights illuminate on the dash, including EML and Glow-plug light. After 2 seconds, glow plug and EML go out. Turn key to start, Engine cranks and starts. When not working (i.e. crank no start) ignition is switched on a range of lights illuminate on the dash excluding EML and Glow-plug light. From this initial position, if I turn key to start, engine will crank but not start. Turning ignition off and back on again repeatedly (1-25 times) will eventually see the correct EML and glow plug light briefly illuminate a…

Morning everyone, I am wondering if the forum can help me with a fairly simple question. My wife’s battered but much loved 2003 CRV, a few weeks ago developed an annoying habit namely if we open the back door to load, say shopping, after 30 sec there is a click and all the doors lock. The obvious danger is if we had accidentally put the keys on the floor of the boot and then closed the back door, we are locked out of the car. The accident just waiting to happen, did. Fortunately with the help of a host of bystanders, a coat hanger, string and a magnet, we managed to recover the keys. Further to add, no we don’t have a spare set of keys. …

  3. Hi everyone New member here, hello! I have purchased this car to be a farm run around in a field, pulling a trailer, roller etc. The car is 4WD (a key requirement for me when buying) but this appears to be ‘automatic’ rather than engaged through any controls on the dash. On its first outing the car got stuck in a muddy field very quickly and it was not easy to get it out as it got stuck every time it was freed again until it was virtually back out the field. I had done some research before buying and saw people off road with their CRVs and some very steep hills so I am disappointed with my experience to date. Have joined the forum to underst…

2006 CR-V 2.2 CTDI EX 115k miles. Ive got some pretty bad noise both at tick-over and driving, only when Clutch Pedal depressed. My recent history is new Master/Slave Cylinders, fluid flush, no change. Suspected DMF/Clutch, so all changed. Problem exactly the same. The DMF/Clutch replaced again on the suspicion of a faulty part. Problem exactly the same. Now the concern has switched to the Gearbox input shaft bearings. Does anyone have any ideas or experience of the possibilities of it being the gearbox? Apart from the noise, the car drives extremely well, smooth and faultless, but the noise when driving, only when depressing the clutch pedal to change gear, is pretty ba…

  11. Started by rayintheuk,

Greetings and a Happy New Year to everyone. I felt I must attempt to share this problem with other CR-V owners. My driver side seat belt in my 2005 CR-V often fails to return to the correct position when it is released after use. It generally sits around the floor and prevents the driver side door from closing. I am aware of the cause most likely coming from the inertia reel which is fixed at a low level, behind the hard plastic trim situated between the two doors. The problem is mainly how to gain access to the reel without doing too much damage. The trim covers quite area, and with no obvious points of fixture using screws I assume the …

  12. Hi everyone, my CRV 2004 Automatic is showing error codes P0135 (O2 Sensor heater circuit Bank 1 sensor 1) and P0131 (O2 sensor circuit low voltage Bank 1 sensor 1). I'm currently browsing three websites—GSFcarparts, EuroCarParts, and Autodoc—to find the correct parts. However, there are numerous variations, making it challenging to decide. For example, on the GSF website, the DENSO LAMBDA SENSOR - 315MM is priced at £150.40, while the same product on the Autodoc website is £40. I'm unsure which one to choose. Can anyone offer advice on which option I should go for? car reg: RJ54OAH

  13. Have a new, to me, CR-V - but cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the interior lights to come on when the front doors open. There are just two switches, right and left, on the interior light - and they just turn the individual lights on and off; and if you leave them switehed on they drain the battery. C'mon, I'm missing something here. Will someobody please help me? cheers, Barrie

I didn't notice the red oil light come on and ran my CRV for 15 miles. Now on the key it makes an awful noise. Thought I'd mention this here in the off chance that someon might find it useful before it goes to the breakers next week (after calling them I am looking for £300, or more!). It has been well used, ie. lots of scratches on the corners, a broken door mirror and the back seats are out, but available MOT to August, was running great until the sudden oil loss, tow bar, Honda roof bars

Hi, I bought a new catalytic converter (this one: https://www.partsinmotion.co.uk/car-parts/exhausts/exhausts/bmcatscatalyticconvertertypeapprovedbm91585h-detail) and the mechanic told me it fits but sensor positions do not match, he added that this might make the sensor readings off and that I should get a different one. Has anyone had a similar situation? I was recommended this catalytic converter (BM) brand and I am not sure if I should get a different converter or just fit this one. Many thanks

  18. Hi all, I have a leak in the power steering hose of my CRV MK2 2.2 Diesel 2005-2006 RHD. Please see the attached image for where it is leaking and image of what the whole part looks like. I took my car to the garage and they couldn't get any genuine replacement parts so they wouldn't fix it. I have been looking online but I can only see replacements for either 2007 Honda's, 2006 Petrol or LHD 2006 diesels, but non for my model. Does anyone know where I can get an exact replacement part or another model that will fit or how to fix the hose? Otherwise my only other option is for me to go the wreckers. Thanks.

Hi, this question relates to a 2003 Honda CRV Initial apologies as this question, in various forms has appeared before but I have tried all the solutions suggested. Occasionally I have had to change the battery and once reconnected I have all sorts of issues with the alarm going off. Normally I have found that messing with various things like using and holding the key in the door lock causes the frequency of the alarm going off to decrease till once the intervals exceed 2 min, then the alarm stop completely. Currently, after replacing the battery, the alarm only goes off if I lock the door (using either the key or the fob). Leave it unlocked and it’s fine. …

Members Very sad to have to let my CRV go. Petrol, auto, 2002 183,000 miles £250, been in the family from new..The cat was cut out/stolen while parked. Most times she passed her MOT first time and very sad to see her go. No MOT and not taxed. She would need to be towed or put on a trailer. Location Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.

Hello everyone I know many of you will think OMG doesn't he know that! But having skimmed through the whole owners manual I still cannot find what the panel on the rear door of the CR-V is for. Looking from the back of a RHD car it's the panel with an obvious gap around it located on the LHS directly beneath the door handle and model letters. At first I thought it may be a storage area, with maybe a corresponding entry behind it on the inside of the door but it's not. I assume that on a LHD car there's one on the opposite side! Any answers please on a postcard to The Dummy in the Honda CR-V Northamptonshire.
