  1. surely that has to be a safety recall issue worth checking the VOSA database for this issue https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall
  2. Useful information Alan....I will check where the cat food we buy originates from
  3. To be on the safe side and to eliminate a component that will need maintenance at some point then I would recommend a transmission fluid and filter change You at least can see how bad (if that is the case) the fluid and filter are
  4. Hi Barrie....welcome to the Club Very unfortunate incident and no insurance payout? 😞 Not sure about the SatNav disc but if its not in the head unit in the dash then it may be in the boot area behind a panel Good to have you onboard!
  5. Hi....welcome to the Club You can't go wrong with a Honda so as long as you keep up with the routine maintenance you shouldn't get any serious issues with the HR-V You are always welcome to help answer any posts you feel you can assist with your knowledge Good to have you onboard!
  6. Hi Chas....welcome to the Club A glutton for punishment with restoring Honda's but they are amongst the best cars to work on compared to many other makes. I was always working on MG and Rover cars as not too dissimilar to Honda and always enjoyed working on them. Good to have you on board and you are welcome to assist in answering any posts that you can as you have the in-depth knowledge
  7. Hi...welcome to the Club I always refer to Castrol oil selector which also shows quantities https://www.castrol.com/en_gb/united-kingdom/home/car-engine-oil-and-fluids/motor-oil-and-fluids-finder.html
  8. Based in the county of Dorset so lovely scenery. I'll bet the scenery and roads are superb in both Ireland and Scotland? Sold my CR-V and the only Honda I have at the moment is the Honda Africa Twin motorcycle. The thing is with Honda, it doesn't matter whether it is a car or motorbike, they are reliable and well built. Good luck with the move Bill.
  9. Similar issue with CR-V of similar year. Worth a try using the same method
  10. Maybe worth checking similar offerings on eBay and Autotrader to gauge the value and then ask for a little more and then be willing to drop on price if necessary
  11. Sounds like battery voltage or steering sensor fault - worth taking back to the dealer to query
  12. From memory I seem to recall the larger bore pipe is supply line
  13. I assume it is the global recall on Takata airbags which affected many hundreds of thousands of all UK makes and models equipped with this type of airbag https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-recalls-defects/takata-airbag-recall-everything-you-need-to-know-a1060713669/
  14. Hi billpmadscot ...welcome to the Club A fellow biker then (I have a Honda Africa Twin) ... what Honda bikes did you have? You've definitely come to the right place to chat cars and bikes Good to have you onboard!
  15. I did this mod on a Civic and had to try a few different belts for size from a local motor factors who were very obliging when they knew what we were aiming to achieve
  16. Thanks for letting us know the outcome of the repairs Sometimes, genuine parts are the only solution!
  17. It does seem that unlike some other manufacturers (e.g. Toyota) that Honda are not concerned about older model parts availability. When a car model reaches a predetermined age then it has done its job and the fact that Honda cars live a lot longer than other makes is that they are made well in the first place. Therefore, i think more by accident than design, the older Honda's are still around but unfortunately the parts are not. Secondhand was always the way I went with parts for older cars and in particular American cars which you struggled to get parts for in the day so would visit scrapyards to find what i needed to keep the car on the road. Nowadays, you can get plenty of brand new remanufactured spare parts for American cars and other specialist cars such as Jags and MGs. Unfortunately, Honda is not one of that foresight has considered so not 'new' parts coming through. Have you also considered Rover parts as similar Honda models used in the Rover range (600, 800, 200, 400)
  18. Trouble is you joined the legion to forget and be forgotten ..... now I'm of the age where I have forgotten whatever it was that I was trying to forget 🙂
  19. Have a look at prices ones are and have gone for on eBay to get an idea of value Bearing in mind condition, mileage, etc and adjust value accordingly
  20. Interesting read Alan and certainly brings back some memories
  21. Hi...welcome to the Club Plenty of information in here but if you can't find what you want to know then just ask Good to have you onboard!
  22. Suddenly thought what it is....Key Fob Battery is low and needs replacing. Take it to Timpsons or other Key Cutters and they should be able to replace it and then the light should go out
  23. Generally Halfords have a range of improved bulbs that can improve lighting....have a look at their range and go from there
  24. Hi .... welcome to the Club Usually chip tuning is the way forward but also induction and exhaust to compliment the tune. I imagine there is a multitude of information on the best way to tune on the net but it is always a question of money....how 'fast' can you afford to go? Good to have you onboard and feel free to post up some pics of the Civic
