  1. Mine will do about 38-40 on a decent run where I can sit at 60, but the general commute, 20 miles each way with a bit of queueing, roundabouts, etc, sees it drop to 34-35. They are not an economical car when it comes to fuel consumption, the box is poorly matched to the engine in my view and I often think it's struggling. I can forgive it though as in four and a half years and 56k (now sitting at 104k) of ownership it's cost me nothing but routine servicing and consumables. You don't say what mpg you are seeing though; dependent on what you had before your expectations may need managing!
  2. Evening; my radio is playing up. Can only play a CD, volume works, on/off switch works, nothing else does. Seering wheel controls are OK so I can select a radio station. Haven't changed battery, or anything like that. Any ideas?
  3. It always used to be the outside edge that wore, now I'm seeing the inside edges wearing on my cars. It will be the alignment drifting out, with the state of the roads these days they won't stay true for long!
  4. If the a/c isn't working your windoews will steam up in cold weather. AC units drip condensation, the oiliness may be being collected from elsewhere as it drips?
  5. Coming a bit late to this so hope this is OK; how many VAG products do you see broken down at the side of the road? And how many Hondas? I use Vertu for all my servicing, not cheap but very happy with them.
  6. Belt slipping on pump pulley?
  7. Evening Bazzer; I suspect you'll only ever find a marginal comfort difference and there'll be a trade off, longevity or grip, possibly both. FWW my CRV came with virtually new Goodyeaar Efficient Grips. They never impressed, especially in the wet, and the first time I drove in snow was enough for me to get rid of them prematurely. I chose Continental All Season Contacts; not cheap but at about £250 more for four than the cheapest cheap and nasties, not that much for improved braking, steering, handling, etc. Mine have clocked up about 20k and still have plenty of life left in them. If there's a false economy, it's cheap tyres!
  8. OK, after fiddling around today I've worked out they are adjustable, mine had just seized up. Adjustment was a bit hit and miss and I've not found the sweet spot but at least now the jet is hitting the screen above the wiper park position when driving at 50-60, and not shooting over the roof at 30. It's a pretty weak jet though. I ended up using a short length of fencing wire to adjust the nozzles, agricultural but effective.
  9. Hello; how do I adjust the aim of the screen washers please? Currently far too low, any speed over 50ish means they hit the underside of the wipers in the park position. Mine's a 2014 model. Thanks
  10. Bars were fine; didn't move and they haven't marked the paintwork as I feared they might. Bear in mind the limited distance between front and back bars. Hope someone finds this useful.
  11. I went ahead and bought them; at only £100 I thought it worth a punt given the positive reviews elsewhere. I got them from The Roofbox Company and paid the extra £3 for 48hr delivery; they turned up a day early. Got around to fitting them yesterday; they look well made and after a brief test run with my roofbox, they seem to be up to the job and with very little wind noise. The instructions weren't that clear and if you do buy some, resist the temptation to slacken the nuts that allow the ends to slide on the bar to change the width. There's a clever device inside the bar that allows you to do this by way of a supplied long reach socket once they are on. Only thing I don't like is that whilst there's substantial rubber feet that sit under the clamps that sit on the top of the roof edge, they don't extend under under the roof line so you have metal to metal contact. I cut up some old rubber gloves to fashion a protective barrier. If I was to use these frequently (I've only bought to go on holiday) then I'd look for something more substantial; I once used bike inner tubes for this purpose on my Volvo 940 for roofbars which attached to the gutter (remember those?). Also be aware that due to the curve of the roof line over the rear doors, the maximum distance between the bars is only 65cm. You're not going to want to carry any boards or mattresses, but my roof box just about fits. I'll update when I get back from my holiday.
  12. Evening; I have a 2014 model that doesn't have factory fit rails. Honda will sell me some for £500 plus fitting, or I can buy a set of Cruz bars that fit under the roof line for around £80. Cruz bars are well reviewed, anyone have any experience with a CRV? Thanks
  13. My 2014 petrol auto CRV will be due it's 72.5k service soon, and I've been quoted a whopping £900 by the MD who did the interim last year. I have found the Honda Direct Parts website who will provide Honda cabin, air and oil filters, Honda oil and plugs for less than £200 so thinking of doing those myself (as it's out of the Honda Approved warranty) and leaving some of the trickier stuff (transmission fluid, rear diff oil change, etc) to the MD. I'm reluctant to do so however without a Haynes type manual to refer to, especially the plugs and cabin filter. Will the US Haynes manual be OK here or is there another resource somewhere? Thanks for any assistance offered!
