well I guess I will answer my own post. On all of our v6 hondas 3.0 3.5 3.7 4.0 they used the covers on the end of the cyclnder heads for holding the cams in position. Sometimes the wear prematurelly and contribut to thrust being out of alignement, and it has a habit of taking out the cam position sensor. You can check it pretty easily with a feeler gauger on the end where the caps go under the valve cover. FYI
