Hi, I’m new here. Our Peugeot 108 lease is about to end and we are looking to upgrade by buying a used Honda Civic. We are expecting to spend between £3000 and £6000. I know Honda have a good reputation for reliability which is what attracted us. I see there are various petrol engine options 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 1.0 and diesels. I’m interested to hear opinions please on whether one of these engines is generally thought of as the best or the one to steer clear of.

Any advice really appreciated, as I have no experience with Civics yet.

As far as I know there are not really any issues relating any of the engines in the Honda range, they are all very reliable

I suppose it is a case of choosing which one suits your motoring needs best (economy, performance or tax category)
