Whine

New here. I have recently got a 2.2 idtec 2013 with 80k miles and it's great. I noticed yesterday that the engine whines on revving up and whines when revving down. No whine on idle. Checked it on the drive whilst static so no gearbox or drive train issues. I read somewhere that this is normal ??!!

If Not normal then maybe alternator bearings ??

It could be alternator bearings or power steering pump or even the belt itself.
I would eliminate other areas by disconnecting the belt and running the engine without it to see if the noise is still there.
