Andy61 Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Hi I have just done the timing belt water pump and tensioner after the belt went. Thankfully the engine runs ok but the timing belt wants to run of the cam belt palliest by about 10mm has anyone had the same problem and know the answer to this problem any help would be grateful thanks.
Trevor Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 If I'm right in understanding your post, it seems the belt is 'drifting' across the pulleys slightly over to one side (not evenly central on the pulleys) ? If so, then it is usually one of the guides or tensioner that may have a bit of corrosion of grit behind it which is causing it not to sit flat and it then running at a very slight angle causing the belt to drift over?
Andy61 Posted September 12, 2023 Author Posted September 12, 2023 Thanks I’ll look behind the tensioner to see if it’s clean. The tensioner is new and so is the water pump. 1
Andy61 Posted September 26, 2023 Author Posted September 26, 2023 Hi Trevor nothing to do with the tensioner or water pump it was a missing plate the round washer that goes in between crank pulley and the cam belt cog that I I forgot to install when putting it back together, so it was all my fault but it’s sorted now runs fine. Thanks for asking. Andy 1
