CRV_Lover Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I am Nigel (north of 50), I live in Reading and I am the proud owner of a 3rd gen 2.0L petrol 07 CRV. I am a keen diy-er and I love to 'tinker'. I had to replace my engine a year ago, which I did myself with a little help (muscle) from a friend. It is my intention to rebuild the old engine as a spare or resale as project when the days get longer. My only problem is I can't get a service manual for the R20A2 engine installed in my car. I bought a service manual (pdf) for the correct vehicle, but that engine was not in it. I'd be thankful for a little help/advice.
Trevor Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Hi....welcome to the Club What happened with the original engine. how did it fail?
CRV_Lover Posted May 29 Author Posted May 29 I recently stripped the engine as I intend to rebuild it. The piston rings has seized to two of the pistons. Apologies for the delay, only just seen this. Still have not obtained a service manual. All the ones I have found/bought have the 2.2L petrol which has 2 x camshafts, the R20A2 only has one.
Trevor Posted June 7 Posted June 7 They usually seize because of carbon build up but if the pistons are scored or burnt away on the ring lands then it may be something more serious with the fuelling or cooling system
