New battery drained... possible electrical problem?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 1984 honda accord 3GX 1829cc. I replaced the battery 3 weeks ago. I have only owned the car for 5 weeks and the interior clock stays on after the ignition is off and the numbers on the clock continuously ascend. So effectively the clock doesn't work. I left the car for a week and when I went back to it the car won't turn over and the clock is off and it appears that the new battery is completely dead. The only thing I can think of is that the car has an electrical fault and somehow the battery is being drained. (is the clock a clue?) Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be going on?  Thanks.

Sounds like the ignition system is being powered to the accessory setting on the key, I would check any relays and see if they click when they should and substitute like for like to see if it makes any difference to the clock display being permanently on
