That doesn't sounds too bad cost wise and to replace in terms of labour It does sounds plausible and also in the colder season it does tend to knock out sensors. Let us know how it all goes and fingers crossed it resolves the issue.....either way at least you get a coolant change which is always an overlooked service item

Merry Christmas to the members of the Honda Owners Club

Merry Christmas to all ! Enjoy the festive break and see you back here in 2024 -
Without being political and going off on a rant - we don't want to ban anybody on here (yet!) 🙂 I tend to steer clear of anything to do with politics and especially the news as its so depressing and not a lot that any of us can do about the outcome. Added to that, put bias, sensationalism and inaccurate news reporting into the mix and its understandable we're in the position as we are in this country. Returning to discussion on cars and the future of driving.....personally I now hate driving and would give it up in a heartbeat as its not enjoyable anymore....used to be that you could take the car out and enjoy a nice drive without the inconvenience of road works, restrictions of every kind and also the costs involved. The car sits on the drive for a week at a time if not longer. However, I do have a couple of motorbikes to get my kicks on the road and have to say that even though it is somewhat more expensive, it is however much more fun! It genuinely gives you that sense of freedom that you used to get from driving a car On a footnote, it has always been the motorist that is the easy target to penalise for everything in the UK it is slightly more difficult to target the motorcyclist as there are such groups as Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) that will argue everything at government level and protect our rights whereas motorists don't have such a strong voice in the houses of parliament...food for thought!

You could try another fuel station (premium fuel such as BP, Esso, Shell) and see if that improves it Alternatively, check tyre pressures and anything else that can create drag on the vehicle (roof box, excess weight in the boot, etc)

ah right, I now understand. That is an odd one and wonder if the relay is at fault or getting all the appropriate information (such as coolant and ambient temperature) if the system is not kicking in at first start on a cold engine. Maybe also look at the connection on the relay to see if any corrosion or damage is present

I would definitely return the car to the garage that replaced the timing belt and ask them to check the fault code (free of charge) to see if it is associated with any of the work that has been carried out. It may be a connection for a sensor that hasn't been clipped back on or something simple that can be fixed at no cost. After that then at least you know the fault code and can go from there Let us know what you find

Everything was right and in place so how have we got to where we are now....that's the question I constantly ask myself (and others who may possibly listen to me ranting on)

Battery voltage may be low by the time the glow plugs have done their part then it may be cranking slower? Alternatively, you could try running the glow plugs twice and then see if it fires up quicker

Hmm....that's a tough call as to which one you'll need. I guess the only other way is to order all the sizes and return the ones you don't need. A local motor factors (Euros, GSF, etc) will happily do this for you if you explain the situation

Unfortunately, I would say the Honda are sadly lacking when it comes to up-to-date tech which they fit to their vehicles. A firmware/software update from the manufacturers may bring it slightly up to date regarding BT connectivity but the overall function of the audio system is still way behind in functionality Not sure if a complete swap out for an aftermarket system such as those from iceboxauto whose units employ all the latest tech and custom fit the vehicle dash so look good as well

Crikey, thats rare but not unheard of Good luck with the paperclip and hope it works Please let us know how it goes

I have seen this before with Honda keyfobs and it does help to put the fob in a protective wallet as sometimes the unlock button can be depressed and held down which will lower the windows if the key is placed in trouser pockets or somewhere the button can be inadvertently depressed

There is an irony with all of this movement toward electric vehicles I'll leave this here..... The trolley bus (electric and in use during the early part of the 20th century) The humble milk float (electric and silently delivered out milk - in glass recyclable bottles) Once a common sight on the roads and electric I don't call what we have now progress - it is literally reinventing the wheel !!!

Another good Honda advert...almost makes you want to go out and buy one !

iCarSoft scanner is quite in-depth for scanning and resetting actuators on Honda models Quite cheap to buy and also updates easily
-
Not entirely sure where it is on the i-dtec engine but I would start by looking at the end of the cylinder head at the gearbox end Here is the specs for the sensor so it will give you an idea of what you're looking for

Did you get any resolve on this issue? Did the EGR pipe help matters?

Please help - 2.2 I-CTDI can't locate knock sensor
Trevor replied to TS99's topic in Civic 2006 to 2011
I must admit i did not think the CDTi has a knock sensor as a diesel engine has an inherent knock from combustion and I cannot think that this could be negated. What is the code you have from the system? -
solar charger using OBD port - its winter again !
Trevor replied to jimbojim's topic in 2003 to 2008 Accord
Not personally used one to keep a battery topped up but do use a battery conditioner on my motorbikes to avoid sulphation which occurs during a period of not being used frequently over the winter period I think as long as you have some method to retain a charge within the battery even if it is minimal then the sulphation process will not occur (as much) -
It doesn't do any harm to update periodically as it also updates firmware and keeps you in the system

What a great video Alan....not seen that one before

I agree, Citroen have produced some excellent cars over the years and have always innovated with new technology. The foot 'handbrake' was really brought over from America and also Mercedes have used it for many decades now. It serves primarily as an Emergency brake (2nd/3rd line braking system) which should bring the car to a halt if needed. Being as most of the cars that employ this type of brake have automatic transmission so it serves to hold or stop the car if needed.
-
Did you get it sorted? Unlikley to be the dash light dimmer wound down to low?
-
I always park my cars in gear (2nd usually - as if started in gear will mostly just stall) but also always start with my foot on the clutch pedal. Reason being, handbrakes do fail and to stop the car from rolling away. Many years ago, Citroen very cleverly used the handbrake on the front brakes in the Xantia. Which was fine until the brakes cooled down (obviously getting hotter on the front) and then the tolerances changed when cold and the car rolled away....rediculous idea and not thought about at design stage. I still hear about cars with electric handbrake rolling away albeit slower than complete failure as there is some drag on the rear discs.

Try WikiOBD in a google search and the site will show you where it is located
