  1. If it's an original disc I wouldn't bother trying to source another, very unlikely to be the disc if it's an original. The very latest available were 2011/12 anyway so at best it'd still be 8 years out of date. Some have had luck with cleaning the lens. I never found any disc cleaners effective and always opted for opening the drive to give it a proper clean. I'll have a dig around for the alpine part details, though I know they're not on eBay anymore and it did come from Japan!
  2. if you're using copied discs, stop. these drives are super sensitive to copied discs which usually result in the drives working several times harder just to read the discs, you'd no doubt hear the drive spinning hard and fast all the time. As for the drive, it's most likely down to the optical block. Sometimes it's a case of cleaning, more severe issues mean replacing the part. In the past i've managed to source and replace the entire drive inside the housing, it's an Alpine part. If you happen to be looking for genuine discs on ebay, there's a seller selling the v2.11 discs for around £21, these are not genuine so avoid them. they look the part but overwork the drive the same way as copied discs typically would.
  3. there's an ebay seller that seems to stock parts and full systems https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/carexhaust_eu/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
  4. it's not quite as straighforward as using off the shelf parts without modification. In terms of steering controls, the interface is most similar to Honda Civics so that's the interface you start with, but the civic harness adaptor is not the same as the FRV. What you need to do is combine the 2... parts you need (pictured): Connects2 CTSHO001.2 Steering wheel control interface for Honda Civic Autoleads PC2-68-4 basic ISO harness CTMULTILEAD.2 steering wheel control patch lead (this one is universal but you can get specific ones for your brand of stereo, the instructions for teh universal patch shows you which wires to cut and which connector to use) CTSHO001.2 is the correct steering harness you need, but you need to chop off the Civic plug and replace it with the CRV/FRV one from a basic autoleads harness PC2-68-4. Your reference to the green plug, this doesn't fit anywhere on the harness, but these are for the steering controls. If you notice the grey plug in my picture with black and purple wires. This needs to connect to the green plug on the FRV wiring harness, except it won't fit. So you need to splice to black wire from grey plug on the interface to the orange wire on the green plug from the car. The remaining purple wire connects to the other wire (black/brown) Once everything is connected up, your controls should work.
  5. i find the facebook groups so frustrating to navigate compared to an actual dedicated forum. happy to help buck the trend and keep forums like this active and alive
  6. I loved the honda karma forum, even despite what felt like the longest period with having no pictures! Following the merge with Civiclife (I was a member there too), things did seemingly go a bit strange. Then came the re-naming to H-tune and the rest is history. Such a shame as certainly under the Honda Karma/AOC era there was such a wealth of useful info and DIYs. Was for me the biggest Honda resource since Honda revolutions years ago
  7. another aftermarket option would be HJS, recommended to me by an exhaust fabricator friend of mine. Quince
  8. The handles/mechanisms on the FRVs tailgates tend to stick. I've gotten around this without having to take anything apart, simply spray some lubricant up into the handle area, preferably with the fine tube attachement to generate additional pressure. Expect some lubricant to flow down onto the bodywork, but the lubrication alone should free the mechanism without further issue. Quince
  9. Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum which I hope is a place where people can settle, share and be happy! I've owned countless Hondas over the years but currently own: Newly acquired CL9 Accord (after missing so much the one i sold in 2017) FRV 2.0 Sport 2007 Civic Hybrid Look forward to sharing all things Honda with you all.
