Oh its frightening how much things were back then but in my day £1 was a huge amount of money as pocket money then was two and half pence (was the old shilling) and could get quite a bit from the sweetshop with that much.

But life was not really under the influence of money and possessions and the good times and memories reflect that.
Equally, a new car then was a percentage of the amount of your salary, which apparently today's money it is still that same percentage
