That`s not the real reason ! How many motorcycles on the road compared to the number of cars, vans and lorries ? Also the tax is lower in comparison - To make most money they have to hit the majority and that is cars, vans and lorries - Also motorists have the AA and RAC to argue at government level but there is an old saying " You can`t Beat the System " The System being the Government and is designed to skrew the public ! Guy Fawkes tried to beat the system - and look what they did to him ! As an aside, when I bought the Accord I have now in 2008 I wanted to go pick the car up myself - on my own - I checked public transport - by train is was impossible - no usable links from my home to the garage, checked the bus service - it would take around 5 hours and 6 buses !!!! I do not live out in the wild - but in Bolton greater Manchester, the garage was in Ashton-under-Lyne - which takes 25 minutes to drive there by car - that`s public transport for you - useless ! BUT when we get the " 15 minute cities " that keeps being muted - what would we want a car OR motorcycle for ? we could all ride round in circles providing there is no ULEZ charge of course ! This is what our children and grand children have to look forward to !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I will have a go once the weather picks up - and post the results here ! just Google VSA and ABS lights reset on youtube - its a chap with an Irish accent - let me know what you think !
-
I just have done - but kept it short and tempered as I don`t want to be banned from the site !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its OK - once the political elite ( dumbo`s of all flavours ) have turned GB into a third world country ! Us poor people will not need to worry about owning a petrol, diesel or electric car - Only the very rich will be in a position to own one AND when ALL parts of UK have 20 mph speed limits (as in Wales) ALL town centres have been pedestrianised - we will not need our cars anyway, and if you say " I won`t have an electric car " Think again - government will put car tax up to £1500 (for example) per year, car insurance minimum £2000 per year (for example) and Diesel and Petrol cost of £25 per litre (for example) and the cost of Electric up to some equally outrageous cost PLUS all the aforementioned countries will "carry on as usual" as they are doing currently ! Do you think this is going "over the top ? " Just look back over the last five years !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still think this is over the top ??????? See previous post "doing away with handbrakes" on this forum

Manual or automatic ? are you fitting it or a company ? Either a specialist gearbox company - ebay - or scrapyard direct ! Your choice, just check reputation from where you buy it from ! You don`t say what part of the country you are in ! If you get it right you only do it once ! Good luck

Just replaced my battery after four years - the price was £70 from Halfords, if you work it out that is £17.50 per year - for that cost its not worth the hassle or worry just buy it fit it and forget it for another four years ! Rinse and repeat every four years 😄

Hi just be careful - I had my air-con diagnosed by a specialist local company - they used a scanner through the OBD socket (under the dash) now the ABS and VSA lights come on after reaching 30 mph and stay on ! I have found a link on youtube on how to reset using pins 9 & 4 on the OBD socket using a paperclip to bridge them in sequence - I have not tried it yet but from what I have read it is a known problem with some cars - and mine seems to be one of them, there was no problem prior to the scanner, so just be aware. Good luck !

Just a quick thought - what would it cost to buy a replacement car ? from the list you have given it seems like it is going to be quite expensive ! I do not know what it would cost in US but you could buy a decent 2000 Accord in UK and it would suggest it may cost less than all the repairs you have listed ! Have a look on craig`s list and see what you can find before making your decision, got to be worth a look at least ! You might find a higher spec and a newer model with less miles. Good luck and keep us informed.

Hi, ask the dealership to take off the" diagnostic " charge if you have them carry out the work - that seems fairer to me - diagnostic fee $100 quotation $300 you pay $200, it may give them an incentive for a realistic quote and give you an incentive to let them do the work ! Hope this helps
-
Hi, in the UK the dealership would normally carry out the evaluation free ! unless I am missing something - what kind of work are we looking at ? I have never been charged for a quotation, but I am in UK perhaps it is different in USA Good luck

Hi John Smith - yes its a lot of money for that car - BUT as you have said you can not find another as good - Go see it test drive and haggle, life is too short - if its what you want and as good as you say - buy it ! I am a bit late to this post but let us know if you bought it ? and are you happy ?

Hi all, the best " handbrake " I ever had on any car was operated by your left foot !!! 1992 Citroen XM 2.0 litre automatic estate - That car was SUPERB ! One of the best cars I have ever owned - the turning circle was amazing - far better than anything else, no shunting about forward and backwards as with other cars - the boot was huge, only the Mazda 929 estate was larger but not as tall due to the citroen`s amazing suspension !! which was out of this world !! - my accord is great and I love it but the XM was better in the areas I have listed above - can I just add, how someone with the manual gear change coped with that footbrake I have no idea, with the auto box on a hill start - one foot on the foot brake and one on the accelerator pedal - then push the release button on the dash - with the manual - no idea as you would need Three legs/feet so as not to roll backwards ?
-
I think the " clever " people call it " progress " what they don`t say is that we are progressing backwards most of the time " or that is how it feels to me - or am I missing something ? Hey, what do I know !
-
buy a solar charger panel - or Don`t buy a new Electric or Hybrid car, having said that - nobody will have a choice soon due to politicians of all colours !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I know of 2 people locally who have new cars with electric brakes that have failed, more than once - Dangerous !!!!
-
This is the norm these days ! They ( all parties ) are turning GB into a third world country, and its too late to change now - the damage has already and continues to be done - If this was France the country would have been burn`t to the ground - but we British just moan ( me included ) and let it happen - God help the future generation !
-
Hi norm, try to find a local dealer/mechanic and get a quot Honda are known for there outrages pricing - I had a hydraulic steering pipe burst recently - Honda quoted £350 + vat just to buy the part - I bought same part from a dealer on eBay for £32 inc. post, I had it fitted by my local mechanic who charged me £68 inc. oil top up and vat Good luck

" Electric cars won`t be having one " want to bet ? when the government ( all flavours ) decide to put tax up to £1500 a year for petrol or diesel and fuel cost up to £20 a litre and reduce the ULEZ threshold so that cars that are compliant now - no longer meet the new " revised " limits - 20 mph speed limits ( yes its coming wales has done it already ) will you have a choice ? They have already doubled car insurance rates - irrespective of your driving record - if you have a bump your insurance company will state " beyond economical repair " and right your car off - PLUS have you noticed that car companies now stock very few vehicle spare parts ? the term " OBSOLETE " is another way of getting petrol/diesel cars off the road !!!! Take all of the above into account and then say " electric cars won`t be having one " Think I am joking - Watch this space !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come the revolution brother !!!!
-
I hope this law applies to motorbikes, push bikes and electric scooters etc., or does it only apply to the persecuted motorist ? perhaps the police should be informed ????? Or is it just me who feels unfairly persecuted 🙂

Hi, I have 2005 Accord 2.4 auto exec tourer - Mine does not have a code, removed the battery many times over many years and never once needed a code - Yes I have had to reset time and radio stations etc., but never needed a code, and must admit that the main agents are not very helpful as I have found out over the last 18 years of Honda ownership - Great and full of advice PRIOR to buying a car from them - but that seems the same for any car dealership ! Try telephoning Honda technical head office - Bracknell Berkshire How do I contact Honda UK? Honda Customer Contact Centre 0345 200 8000 Hope this helps, good luck
