2005 Honda CR-V 2.2TD Sport - in a field
Alan gsd replied to PaulStafford1984's topic in CR-V 2001 to 2006
Hello Paul, welcome to the club. Below is part of a report by 'What Car' I have a CRV same year as yours and find it a great car but I don't take it off road. I did know a guy who owned a Ranger Rover who got who got stuck all the time, turned out he had the wrong tryes for off road work. What's the used Honda CR-V estate like? The CR-V is more a pumped-up estate than out-and-out off-roader. In fact, 4WD only kicks in when it's needed, so for the bulk of the time, you're driving a front-wheel-drive car. In other words, and as Honda will admit, this is basically a road car with some (very limited) off-road ability. That means, with no awkward compromises to strike between its on- and off-road abilities, the car can concentrate on one thing - and so it does, to tremendous effect. -
I checked Green Flag out who I found out are Motoring Assit offered me a good range of services for my car and the wife's for £16 month.. Job done!! Phoned RAC to cancel been with them 22 years bear in mind my renewal went from £29.50 to £46.99 and after a phone call last week went down to £31.00 they start talking about going down lower if I stay, I stopped the guy and said I knew he was doing his job but not to insult me with offers when the powers that be at the RAC would have been happy to screw me for £46.99. Asked him to get one of the 'top people' to call me so I could tell them my thoughts. There's no reward in being loyal these days and if you are they play on the idea that you won't leave. Alan

Had a offer of 4 tyres for my 2005 CRV 215 - 65 -16H - Avon incl balance etc - total £329.00 is that a good price and make of tyre??
-
Had my renewal update from the RAC today, was £29.50 a month now going up to £46.99. !! So a phone call when I can find the right contact number- 'How can we help you today'? Easy cancel my membership your taking the P with that sort of increase I'll go with Green Flag. 'Lets see if I can help you' .....pause.... 'How about if we can renew your membership with all the current benefits for £31.00'?...... So I said yes but it seems we are being screwed left, right and centre if we don't fight back. Alan

Advice please - Tyres for a 2005 CRV the front are 215 - 65-16 T the back 215-65-16 H. The tyre presure label on the door pillar just shows 215-65-16 T some trye outlets mention a diifences rating front and back and some don't !! I understand it's about speed, but I not likely to go over 70 in the old girl, so what do I buy the same all round or T front- and H back. Alan

If you don't get a offer then MMG Dog Guards sometimes have 2nd hand guards for sale or will even make one for your car. Alan

I'm not an expert or even near being one, but I would say it's very uncommon, my 2005 CRV is my first honda and it's so well finished and everything fits like a glove. Sounds and looks like a hard 48K miles. Alan

Read the article at the bottom of this page about Headlight cleaning has anyone used these kind of products and found they worked or has a homemade product that made a diffence. Alan

Thanks again Trevor for this information. Booked in for next Tues/Weds Alan

Thanks Trevor, the dual mass flywheel is in the price. First time I've ever had a clutch need replacing on any car I've had. This little CRV has a tow bar on the back don't know hpw much work she did but is it true towing does wear a clutch out quicker??

Seems my 2005 CRV desel 2.2 CRV is after 136.000 mikes in need of a new clutch been given a priice of £1100 fitted does this seem a fair price? Its booked in for next week at the local garage I use. Alan
