    The best??

  2. I've been a member of the forum for a year this month and I've learnt alot about the Great Honda car and tips on getting the best from them. I'm not very knowledgeable about the workings of the heart of a motor but I know someoene here will always offer sound advice, so thanks everyone especially Trevor and RN. I've been missing a fair bit recently new laptop with Windows 11 my old one was Windows 7!! Its not been easy, I'm sure with these things they get to a point where it's at it's best but some bright spark has to try and change things just because they need to sell new items. Bring back XP !!!! Alan
  3. Thanks Trevor as always. Is it something that happens to must cars as they get older? Alan
  4. And no I didn't put the pic of the lady looking for an older bloke .hahahahahaha
  5. Well, my old girl (2005 CRV) passed her MOT but got an advisores "subframe corroded but not seriously weakended rear" anyone please give me advice on this, can it be repaired if yes, should be done asap and if no repair can be done can it be replaced and ideas of cost for repair and/or replacement please. Alan
  6. This is just no good for me at my time of life, I now need a few strong drinks and a lay down in a dark room!! After logging on this afternoon the first thing I see is an ad for Ann Summers!! I can vaguely remember most of it where it went and even how to remove it but what came next has completely gone!!!! 🤣
  7. Its around four weeks since I had the 4 mismatched tryes replaced on my CRV and the difference is noticeable on the ride and steering. I've used Avon before on my transits and been happy with them so when I was offered 4 at a very good price I went for it. Think they thought I was mad as the old tryes had plenty of tread left but I hated having 4 difference make of tyres and the price won't come again!!

  9. Hi Paul, the more I look into the 4 wheel drive the more confused I get, we need Trevor or BAZZER RN words of wisdom to clear up if the 2005 CRV are all 4 wheel drive and if there is anyway of knowing when it kicks in.
  10. Had the same kind of problem with my 2005 CRV went round a put a spray of WD40 round each door window button and it's been ok since.

  11. Hello Paul, welcome to the club. Below is part of a report by 'What Car' I have a CRV same year as yours and find it a great car but I don't take it off road. I did know a guy who owned a Ranger Rover who got who got stuck all the time, turned out he had the wrong tryes for off road work. What's the used Honda CR-V estate like? The CR-V is more a pumped-up estate than out-and-out off-roader. In fact, 4WD only kicks in when it's needed, so for the bulk of the time, you're driving a front-wheel-drive car. In other words, and as Honda will admit, this is basically a road car with some (very limited) off-road ability. That means, with no awkward compromises to strike between its on- and off-road abilities, the car can concentrate on one thing - and so it does, to tremendous effect.

  13. I checked Green Flag out who I found out are Motoring Assit offered me a good range of services for my car and the wife's for £16 month.. Job done!! Phoned RAC to cancel been with them 22 years bear in mind my renewal went from £29.50 to £46.99 and after a phone call last week went down to £31.00 they start talking about going down lower if I stay, I stopped the guy and said I knew he was doing his job but not to insult me with offers when the powers that be at the RAC would have been happy to screw me for £46.99. Asked him to get one of the 'top people' to call me so I could tell them my thoughts. There's no reward in being loyal these days and if you are they play on the idea that you won't leave. Alan
  14. Had a offer of 4 tyres for my 2005 CRV 215 - 65 -16H - Avon incl balance etc - total £329.00 is that a good price and make of tyre??
  15. Had my renewal update from the RAC today, was £29.50 a month now going up to £46.99. !! So a phone call when I can find the right contact number- 'How can we help you today'? Easy cancel my membership your taking the P with that sort of increase I'll go with Green Flag. 'Lets see if I can help you' .....pause.... 'How about if we can renew your membership with all the current benefits for £31.00'?...... So I said yes but it seems we are being screwed left, right and centre if we don't fight back. Alan
  16. Advice please - Tyres for a 2005 CRV the front are 215 - 65-16 T the back 215-65-16 H. The tyre presure label on the door pillar just shows 215-65-16 T some trye outlets mention a diifences rating front and back and some don't !! I understand it's about speed, but I not likely to go over 70 in the old girl, so what do I buy the same all round or T front- and H back. Alan
  17. If you don't get a offer then MMG Dog Guards sometimes have 2nd hand guards for sale or will even make one for your car. Alan
  18. Thanks Chas, I'll take a look at the kit Alan
  19. Thanks BAZZER RN 1, good to hear about the tyres that's my next thing to get, mne are ok but I hate them all being diffrent makes. Being that busy keeps you out of the pub
  20. Got the old girl back with her new clutch -Labour, Clutcn Kit, Dual Mass Flywheel, Gear Oil, and Bolts incl Vat £1,113,23 take it back in 2 weeks for a check that all is as it should be (or before if a problem). Feels like a new car. Alan
  21. Thanks Trevor, I'll give that a go, now then SR or Colegate!!!!! 😀
  22. I'm not an expert or even near being one, but I would say it's very uncommon, my 2005 CRV is my first honda and it's so well finished and everything fits like a glove. Sounds and looks like a hard 48K miles. Alan
