I LOVE my Hondas.  Have had hatchbacks since 1978     In April of 2018 I bought my first one that was made in this century 😂, a 2015 6 speed manual Fit.  Used, it was on CarGuru , but  from an unreputable dealer.  Anyway, there is always water in my he spare tire well.   Does anyone else have this experience?  I had it with my Civic hatchbacks but thought it was due to age.

thank you for any input

Hi Suzie.....welcome to the forum

I would initially look at the rear light lenses as a source of the water entering the boot area.

If you remove the lenses and apply some silicone sealant to the gaskets before refitting then that may cure it or at least eliminate the lenses as being the culprit.

I’d also read where they found the leak by having some one drive the car during a rain storm and some one in the back watching for water😀😀

  • 2 weeks later...

The trouble with that is water tracks through so you will never usually find where it originates from whereas smoke will only come out through a gap or hole by itself rather than tracking along somewhere

Good point!    I am just so bummed.   All my other hatches leaked but I’d gotten good deals or owned them forever.  and (my mistake) I bought this one from a Honda dealer as. cPO (certified preowned) and paid up the wazoo🙄🙄🙄.   (And they tag on everything when you’re there).  They must’ve known it leaked, but it was bone dry the day I looked at the car.    They offered to fix it but they are 4 hours away. UGH.   Thx for your help
