Gra Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 Hello! The offside drive shaft of our 2005, 143,000 mile 2.0 Sport Vtec FR-V has broken so could cost the best part of £1,000 to replace and repair. Does anyone know where to get a good second hand one from and a driver's seatbelt with fittings, too? I can only find a drive shaft from Honda which is almost £800, way more expensive than the £120 it would have cost for a new, nearside driveshaft from an alternative supplier. And even Honda doesn't appear to stock a seat belt... so no point replacing the shaft if the car then fails the MoT due in July re the seatbelt issue... We are only the second owners and have had the car since 2007, so given the current lockdown this is not good news - we had already had the old driveshaft taken out when the private garage where we had taken it twice received a nearside driveshaft from its supplier by mistake, even though they had been told it was the offside one (which has a bearing in the middle so is more complicated). So suddenly then a problem the AA guy said would take half an hour to replace (at the end of March!) has become a major headache. Any ideas?
Trevor Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Hi....welcome to the Forum Well, the aftermarket doesn't seem to support the FRV when it comes to driveshafts so eBay it is then https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.Xhonda+frv+driveshaft.TRS0&_nkw=honda+frv+driveshaft&_sacat=0 Hopefully you should find one to fit but avoid Chinese made products as quality is poor
