Chaps Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Hi, just picked up my accord tourer 2.2 diesel 2015 last week. Theres a slight whining noise from the engine, similat I guess to a quiet super charger kind of noise. Seems to dissappear above 2000rpm or you just can't hear it then. Engine pulls well, only averaging around 40mpg, was hoping for more but may be the norm? I've had a mechanic had a quick listen and seems to think its just abit of impeller noise from the turbo and nothing to worry about. There's quite abit of chat on the Internet about the engine being abit noisy and may be the norm. Is it worth booking it in Honda for them to take a look. Cheers all
Trevor Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Hi....welcome to the Forum Generally, the 2.2 engine does sound a bit whiney which is normal and 40mpg is quite normal as well (around town and extra urban) but you can reset the mpg readout to give a more accurate reading based on your driving style.
Hondawanda Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Hi, I'm not a mechanic but have this on my 2007 wtih 150k on it. Had same noise from Alfa Romeo few years back. Turbo blew on the Alfa. I'm expecting it to be Bearing Play on Turbo. Did you find out the problem? 1
