Shaz huss Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Hi, I have a 2007 Honda Civic type S 1.8. When the car is started I can hear a grinding type noise, but when I press the clutch down the noise goes away. Also when driving the grinding noise is there. I had the clutch bearing replaced (there where three parts of the clutch changed but I don't know the names of them parts) Does anyone know what the issue could be?
Trevor Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Hi.....welcome to the Forum Not sure if you have resolved this issue yet? Sounds like the clutch release bearing running against the clutch cover. In the worse case scenario the bearing can drill through the clutch cover. You must ensure that you are not resting your foot on the clutch pedal when driving as the working clearance is taken up and the release bearing is then running at engine speed constantly which it is not designed to do. Usually the noise disappears when you depress the clutch pedal and this is then usually a sign that the release bearing is worn.
