I am a senior who really likes his new CRV but I just discovered fishing in a bass boat. The problem is bass boats are heavy and expensive. Is it nuts to tow a boat that is a couple hundred pounds over the 1500lb tow rating. All my fishing is 15 to 20 minutes away from my home and fairly flat. Any thoughts and yet I am going to add a transmission cooler just to be safe. I would appreciate anyone who has experience with this and their thoughts!! Thank you!

Haven't had any experience towing with an Automatic CR-V but I would say it is a case of going at a slower pace and not relying on the engine for braking so much (which would load the transmission)....then it should be okay without any mods.
