ECRG Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Hi. Is there a correct procedure for getting good hand brake efficiency on a Jazz with calipers? Weve tried several different methods including releasing everything and then using the handbrake levers to 'pump' out the pistons but the efficiency is still terrible.
Trevor Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 You could try adjusting the cable to gain better efficiency Maybe also see if the cables are free to move by jacking up each corner and seeing if the wheels are locked when applied
ECRG Posted October 8, 2021 Author Posted October 8, 2021 The cable has been adjusted several times. It also has been totally released (making sure the caliper leavers are back to the stop) and the pistons on the calipers pumped out then cable adjusted but the efficiency is still bad.
Trevor Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 I guess the only other thing to try is to replace the pads as the others may be low on the lining thickness and also offer better friction
ECRG Posted November 24, 2021 Author Posted November 24, 2021 Sorry for very late reply, I forgot to mention that we have done all of the above before I posted. The cables and one caliper has also been changed but its almost exactly the same efficiency on a brake tester. I was hoping there might be a Honda mechanic on here that might have a tip or solution. Thanks for the info so far though
Thp2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 I fitted break pads and discs in December took a few weeks to wear in but still not that good on hills. Even Honda say to leave car in gear when using handbreak.
