Wing Mirror Damage

Does anyone know if the powered wing mirror assembly can be fully broken down?

The silver part of mine is damaged, but the black lower half is fine. I can purchase a 2nd hand one I've seen, where the lower half is damaged but the top is in good condition. Therefore ideally I would like buy that, remove the silver casing part and fit it to mine...


Anyone know if this is doable or am I restricted into getting a whole new assembly, thanks in advance?

My belief is that if it went together it can come apart

However, I think you'll need to remove the mirror glass (without breaking it) and then the 'gubbins' inside to then remove the outer shell

If everything still works fine, superglue it, sand that bit down and then respray the silver bit.
