Alan gsd Posted Friday at 01:58 PM Posted Friday at 01:58 PM Been driving 50 years so an Age old question with a diesel engiine do you i 1. Start and drive away 2. Or allow time for the engine to warm up before setting off Best advice for my 2005 CRV diesel please
Trevor Posted Tuesday at 09:20 AM Posted Tuesday at 09:20 AM Definitely let the engine idle for a while to get warm as the combustion pressures that occur on a diesel engine are highest when cold and can lead to cracked heads, etc I always advocate starting the engine first and then plug in seatbelt, adjust heater, radio, etc to allow it to warm enough to drive away with less detonation when its at the initial stages of combustion.
