Honda Civic Type S GT i-VTec - Sync New Electronic key

Joining here because the only key that we have to my partners car has stopped working. The electronic part, that is. We can still drive it, but the alarm is constantly on. I've bought a new, blank key and have seen many Youtube videos telling me that I can sync the new key to the car, but none of them seem to work. Anyone know if it really is possible to sync a new key?

I would be surprised if you could just synch a blank key to a car as many thieves would just do this

It would be a dealership or Honda specialist job to code it to the car

If I had any faith in car companies to do what is best for consumers, I'd agree. But I don't have that faith.
