  7. Hi....welcome to the club! Yes, Lexus have been very slow to respond to the security threat and I think this has put a lot of people off from buying one....especially now the insurance is increasing because of the thefts I don't personally think it is too much of a problem with Honda, maybe the thieves find them a bit boring to steal 🙂 Superb choice of powerful cars prior to the Lexus and now the Honda Good to have you onboard

  9. Hello, This may be an obvious question, but are UK / US engine parts interchangeable? I'm helping a friend with a head gasket change, and I can't seem to find a 1.6L head gasket on rockauto, and I'm not sure where to find a reputable vendor. The websites I've tried have been decent, but nothing I feel confident in buying. He has a 2006 Hatchback, 1.6L, for reference. I would appreciate any advice you could share, as your personal experience means a lot! Thanks, Caleab
  10. Smoke coming out of the exhaust 4 different times as I was driving I would feel the car go a bit ruff then smoke foot down smoke and a bit limp or missing then after 30 seconds to a minute it would go back to normal fine for a few weeks then same thing no engine lights or codes then today service and MOT emissions perfect but the oil level on the dipstick was higher than it should by about 3lt even though nobody had put any oil in since the last service and MOT and still no lights or codes
  11. Found the issue of a brand new battery drain after 2-3 days . Being the fuse for the interior lights and the radio - not looked into yet due to the weather only removed the fuse as a temp fix. As far as i know all the interior lights work correctly and so does the basic stereo . What could i be looking for as the issue draining the battery. 2007 honda accord 2.0 155bhp saloon

  19. 2010 Honda CR-V Auto Whilst the rear sensors are very loud, the front resemble the squeak of a dying mouse. Honda said that both sounds are made by the same unit and a replacement unit will cost over £350. Any ideas for amplifying the front sensors? Thanks in anticipation Brian Pfeiffer

  22. Hello fellow Civic enthusiasts, I'm reaching out to the community for some advice regarding my 2005 Honda Civic 1.6 i-VTEC SE Hatchback 5dr. The car has been sitting unused for the past 9 years and unfortunately, does not start. It has an exceptionally low mileage of only 7,500 miles but requires significant work to get back on the road. Here are some of the issues: - The battery is dead, and there’s no oil or petrol. - Two of the tires are deflated. - All original keys are lost. I’m at a crossroads about whether to invest in repairs to potentially restore it to its former glory or to sell it as is. I understand that with a bit of investment, there might be a chance to revive it, especially considering the low mileage, which might attract collectors or restoration enthusiasts. Given your experience and passion for Civics, I’d love to get your input: - Do you think it’s worth repairing a Civic of this age and condition? - Are there specific challenges I should be aware of in restoring a Civic that has been idle for such a long period? - Or would it be more practical to simply sell the car as is and let someone else take on the project? Any advice, insights, or recommendations on mechanics or restoration experts who specialize in older Civics would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help!
  23. Hi, I have a 1984 honda accord 3GX 1829cc. I replaced the battery 3 weeks ago. I have only owned the car for 5 weeks and the interior clock stays on after the ignition is off and the numbers on the clock continuously ascend. So effectively the clock doesn't work. I left the car for a week and when I went back to it the car won't turn over and the clock is off and it appears that the new battery is completely dead. The only thing I can think of is that the car has an electrical fault and somehow the battery is being drained. (is the clock a clue?) Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be going on? Thanks.
  24. Hi Stella, I have a 2020 Honda E, which has just been in to Newton's Croydon today; after my dash lit up like a Christmas tree telling me all the things were faulty starting with brakes. Then parking brake, collision detection, adaptive cruise control, one pedal driving, lane departure mitigation and low speed collision mitigation. After being away for a couple of weeks and going to take the car in for the diag, I found the brakes not to be functioning well... very soft and then a jump where I could then hear the friction brakes being applied, although it was as though it was an old cable style system with no assistance. I'm pleased I was only doing low speeds too! After going in for a diagnostic today - I was told the control unit is faulty. The cost to replace it is £3048! I was advised to speak to Honda direct, as they have seen a lot of these units on different vehicles failing. I think we need to get Honda to admit they have a faulty component and have them in for recall, as you said. Sorry I don't have anything more useful to offer at this point. Nash

  26. Hi all, I have a 2016 Honda CR-V Black Edition Manual Petrol that has gone into limp mode following an electrical issue. The battery had to be charging once in a while otherwise the battery would have died. The nail in the coffin was when all the lights on the dashboard was lit up everything from AWD, engine management, you name it after starting the car. The local garage suspected the ecu was damaged due to a short, but after diagnostic from Honda there was nothing wrong with the ecu, but they didn’t say what the problem was overall. The garage is now suspecting that there’s damage to a wiring loom or a short somewhere else that has caused the car to go into limp mode as well as all the failures on the dash.
