CR-V 2016 to 2022

  1. Started by AliStephen,

I have a 2018 CRV SE+ 1.6 diesel. If I stall this car it is sometimes reluctant to start when warm. The engine turns over on the starter, there is some clattering but fails to fire up. The other day I refueled the car when warm which took about 5 minutes and attempting to start it again I had the same problem. It took about 5 or 6 attempts to get it to fire up. The owners manual says if the engine fails to start to wait for 1 minute before trying again but 1 minute is a long time to wait if you stall at traffic lights etc. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

I have a '21 plate CR-V Ex fitted with a Heads Up Display. When switched on the screen pops up in front of the steering wheel. Last month however this stopped working; it deploys about 25%, judders and then returns to about 20% deployed meaning it can't be read. Local Honda dealer said that while the projector is working the screen is somehow jammed and they can't fix it. The drive mechanism is a sealed unit and can't be taken apart to see what's wrong. Quote for replacement is £3800 !! Has anyone had this problem? How do you remove the unit from the dash? Have seen a picture of one on eBay and it seems to be held together by screws, not a sealed unit. Any help would…

Hi there, I am about to hard wire my dashcam to the car via the interior fusebox. In the wiring diagram one of the wires goes to the Batt+ fuse location. I've looked in the manual and can't find any reference to this fuse in the layout diagram. Has anyone hard wired their dashcam and can help me with the location?

Morning All, Need some help please. My wife's 65 plate CRV is stop start and yesterday the auto stop/start disabled light came on with the A circled next to a battery symbol. I was due to look at it this weekend hopefully but this morning the battery is dead and the car won't turn over. I'm assuming the battery needs replacing and looking at Halfords they do stop start batteries that fit, but warn they may require coding to the vehicle. Can anyone confirm that I may well need to have the battery coded to the vehicle? Many thanks Phil

Just bought a 2019 Crv Hybrid. Has anyone any experience of purchasing new mats other than the genuine Honda mats which appear to be expensive. My car didn't have any and the Halford generic version don't fit well. Thanks for any help as there's loads on ebay but don't want to risk wasting cash on rubbish.

Hi All I'm confused. Honda and the Handbook says this model a 2017 reg on a 2018 model (petrol) should have DLR lights on. The fuse is OK, being no. 10 on drivers Footwell. The front 'strip'lights under the dipped beam only come on with the side lights. Our light stalk has only side light and headlight options, NO Auto. There are no lights on 'all the time' on the front of the vehicle when driven, which is my outstanding of day time running lights which I assume us like the Volvos back in the 1980s. So questions are Is my understanding of DLRs correct? - Honda says yes? do you have lights on all the time on the same mode…

My 2016 Honda CRV has been driving me wild with a sometimes quite loud hum/squeel from the front nearside wheel when I enter a left hand corner. I have replaced the discs and brake pads, checked all the suspension etc but cannot detect the problem. Its not constant but only occassionely normally after travelling. Thanks over 10 miles. Any help would be most appreciated . Thanks Barrie

I locked the car as normal but on my return found the car unlocked with all the windows fully down and the boot and sunroof open. How could this happen?

I have a 2017 CRV SE1.6 diesel. There is an intermittent groan / low pitched whistle (loud) that starts after it has warmed up (typically 30+ mins of driving). It stops when you brake and also when you steer left. It seems to happen most when you’ve been driving at speed, brake and then start to pull away - a little like something is rubbing and stuck (it doesn’t sound like grinding though), but also happens when moving at fairly high speeds and for long periods of time - 40-50mph and below. I’ve recently had the brake pads and discs replaced to try and solve this but it hasn’t helped. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi all New to the forum and wondered how people have fared with the hybrid CRV. After a lot of narrowing down, it's between a 2019 hybrid CRV (58k) for £20,300 and a Skoda Karoq 1.5 petrol for £18000, both from main dealers. I'd be particularly interested to know: 1) how reliable have people found the hybrid CRV? 2) how comfortable have they found the seats? 3) how have people found Honda dealers (I've heard expensive) and whether people are happy taking their hybrids to trusted local mechanics instead. We do mainly short trips, so a car that does better mpg in city driving would suit us very well. We love the space and I love the hybrid te…

Hi all. Just purchased a 2019 CRV hybrid and one thing which I've noticed is what seems like a fair amount of road/tyre noise, is that typical? My car has Bridgestone Dueler tyres all round, I don't think I've read that these are particularly noisy. Don't think it's CVT noise and I can hear it when the car is cruising and in EV mode. I've also been struggling a little with the audio system - took me a while to work out how to configure the DAB radio presets and the user manual was no use at all. Other than that impressions are good - lots of space, decent quality, nice looks etc.

  14. Hi all, I have a 2016 Honda CR-V Black Edition Manual Petrol that has gone into limp mode following an electrical issue. The battery had to be charging once in a while otherwise the battery would have died. The nail in the coffin was when all the lights on the dashboard was lit up everything from AWD, engine management, you name it after starting the car. The local garage suspected the ecu was damaged due to a short, but after diagnostic from Honda there was nothing wrong with the ecu, but they didn’t say what the problem was overall. The garage is now suspecting that there’s damage to a wiring loom or a short somewhere else that has caused the car to go …

Hi. On my 2018 CR-V, the water-in-fuel sensor came on about two years ago. I was 400 miles from home; the Edinburgh Honda dealer was useless so I called mine at home to ask what I should do. It was suggested it was probably a faulty sensor so I returned safely home. Weeks later at the next annual service the fuel filter was changed and showed there was no water present. Anyway I didn't get the sensor sorted and now 15,000 miles later the icon depicting water droplets over a petrol tank is still illuminated. The cost I've been quoted to replace the sensor is £277. Any suggestions for a cheaper solution?

  16. 2016 Honda CRV 1.6 dtec 9 speed auto EX. My car had been left at the Meet & Greet parking at East Mids airport for 2 weeks. On collection yesterday they said the car battery was flat. The very helpful meet & greet team drove me up to the parking area to try starting it myself. When i tried to start the car, the brake pedal wouldnt push down as if it was locked/disabled and while trying to press the pedal down along with the engine Start button, nothing appeared to light up on the dash board. I tried this a few times and not sure what i did but out of the blue it suddenly lit up the dashboard and started and i might add, plenty of power in the battery as it didnt…

Hi, I am newbie to the site and have been a dedicated user of Honda products from 1980 when I purchased my first, a Honda Lawnmower. I was so pleased with the product and its functionality , I thought there must be something behind the tales about Honda brilliant engineering and customer service. Since then i have bought yet another lawnmower, 2 Civics a 2.2L Diesel and the 1.6L Diesel and 3 CRV's 2 x 2.2L Diesel and one 2020 AWD Hybrid EX . Apart from the Hybrid they have all been excellent. I purchased the latest 2020 CRV Hybrid in 2021 as an ex demonstrator which had 3000 miles on the clock and came with 29 months of the 3 year warranty remaining plus a 5 year de…

Hi. My new (to me) CRV was damaged recently when someone tried to break into it. They pulled the plastic fairing on the tailgate (I think the official name is "Lower Tailgate Garnish Assembly") and broke some of the internal fittings. I've removed all the snap fittings and bolted it back on using just the 4 bolts at the corners. It looks to be in the right position but it's very difficult to get to the release button. Can any one tell from the attached photos what is wrong? I just can't see how the button assembly could ever line up with the cut-out in the faring. Rob

Hi, I'm looking to rejoin the fold having been away for 5 years after running an Accord for the previous 10. Such a pity they are no longer available in the UK. I'm considering a CR-V Hybrid as a daily runner and grandchildren's taxi. There are a few other options obviously but I am drawn back to the 'H'. Looking at 2020/21 due to the price, which I believe is way to high, so the question is are there any obvious faults/problems to be aware of?

I have a 2018 crv, currently has 62000 miles. I've never been pleased with the low beam brightness. Its fitted with H11 55 watt halogen bulbs which look OK. Looking online I can upgrade to H11 exeon or H11 LED's, but both seem to be 60 watts, and a huge amountof lumins more. I don't want to dazzle on coming traffic but I do want to have brighter lights without having the need for adaptors. Has anyone changed/upgraded their lights. Alternatively is new halogens the solution? I've fitted blue bulbs in the past which I didn't think made much difference. Full beam is fine.

Hi there , sorry if this has been posted before but I'm looking at getting my CRV 2017 black edition remapped. I'm considering a superchips remap as they seem good value with the discount at the moment. Is there anyone who has had their CRV mapped by them and can recommend them ? Thanks 😊
