2007 CR-V 2.2 cdti ES spec and love it .... 45mpg from a big car, what's not to like about it?
-
Hi Jennifer...welcome to the Forum Which year and engine is your CRV? Quite possibly it could be a split turbo hose or vacuum leak but depends on whether it's a petrol or diesel engine. Let me know the year and engine and I may be able to help further. Cheers, Trevor

CR-V central isofix point/seatbelt question (2016)
Trevor replied to sparetc's topic in Honda General Discussions
I see what you mean (had to look up extended isofix seat base to see what you meant) and can see how that would intrude upon the nearside seatbelt....not one of Honda's better ideas! -
Hi Sean....welcome to the Forum Unfortunately, the Honda SatNav and electronics is sadly lacking in technology compared to other manufacturers. I also use a TomTom in my CR-V but the only saving grace is when it is a cloudy day (which is when the SatNavs really play up) the Honda one, as it has an exterior aerial, does perform better as picking up more satellites. One other issue I have found is that if you have a Dash Cam with WiFi, this can sometimes interfere with SatNavs and (if fitted) may be worth switching off to try this theory. Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor

FR-V change from UK to European (LHD) headlights
Trevor replied to John Knott's topic in Honda General Discussions
if they don't notice that you have aftermarket Xenon's fitted and that the beam is just flat and they're happy with that then it certainly is worth a try. Wouldn't get away with it here but I hear the French Control Technique looks for very specific items and totally disregards the blatantly obviously dangerous stuff.....but I suppose they are only singing from a hymn sheet the same as the British MoT tester does. -
Hi...welcome to the Forum Not entirely sure as to whether it will fit but if local to you then may be best to try it on before you hand over any cash....done that before and it saves loads of aggro later on with trying to sell them back on when you find they don't fit (VW / Audi have a few combinations of PCD). Let us know how you get on with it Cheers, Trevor

CR-V central isofix point/seatbelt question (2016)
Trevor replied to sparetc's topic in Honda General Discussions
Hi...welcome to the Forum I thought that the seatbelt for the centre seat drops down from the roof behind the rear seats, it does on mine (2007 CR-V) Be interested to know how you get on with this Cheers, Trevor -
FR-V change from UK to European (LHD) headlights
Trevor replied to John Knott's topic in Honda General Discussions
Hi John...welcome to the Forum Had a quick look around eBay and few other places...nothing available as you say. Cannot see that there is any adapter to swap the kick-up either. Only place I can find that would sell headlamps for LHD Honda is in the USA. https://www.carid.com/honda-headlights/ Sorry I can't help further but let us know how you get on with it Cheers, Trevor -
Fitting a Dashcam to a CR-V
Trevor replied to Mark Adams's topic in Honda Audio / Video / Electronics / Security Systems
Shouldn't be at all invasive and nothing that cannot be reversed within 5 minutes. Let us know how you get on with it -
Hi Jim There are a few listed here https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=honda+hrv+centre+armrest&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X2000+honda+hrv+centre+armrest.TRS0&_nkw=2000+honda+hrv+centre+armrest&_sacat=0 Not sure if they are the same type as yours though

Fitting a Dashcam to a CR-V
Trevor replied to Mark Adams's topic in Honda Audio / Video / Electronics / Security Systems
Hi Mark....welcome to the Forum I fitted a Nextbase Dash Cam to my 2007 CRV and it works fine. Two things worth mentioning though: 1. Use the sticky back adapter plate to affix to the screen where the black dotted area is to avoid the cam being too low down and tucks it out of the way nicely. The lead then tucks away very nicely behind the trim with no effort at all. 2. The fusebox is a nightmare to access and remove fuses, even had to modify the standard Honda fuse to fit the Nextbase adapter (wholly the Honda at fault here I must say). Also trying to find a fuse that was ignition switched....good luck with that one. In the end, feeling sore lying across the sill and with my head upside down under the dash, I opted for a 'hot' fuse, being live all of the time but setting the Cam to sleep after a short while and it also works to activate the Cam if any movement triggers it. Here is a link to an article I wrote about the 512GW Dash Cam and the links to the Hardwire Kit as well. http://www.drivn.co.uk/nextbase-512gw-dash-cam-review/ http://www.drivn.co.uk/nextbase-dash-cam-hardwire-kit/ Let us know how you get on with it, especially if you do locate an ignition switched fuse Cheers, Trevor -
As you say I can't see one for the 2nd Generation CRV on http://www.iceboxauto.com/honda The only other option could be to replace the head unit for an aftermarket one which will give you all the options but probably won't work off the steering wheel controls (if fitted).

Hi Andy....welcome to the Forum Fine looking Accord you have there Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor

it squeezes inwards (bit like the old fashioned bullworker)...if you push it to one side, you'll see how it works. Then pull the blinds from the seat headrests to remove.

Blackbird engines single seater car
Trevor replied to Philgavin's topic in New Members Introductions
Sorry, the forum is aimed at Honda cars only, although the Blackbird engine is a wonderful thing I don't think anyone has expert knowledge of it on here. -
Hi Carl Yours is the later model system which doesn't flip down and you insert the SatNav discs in the slot at the top, I believe. I have the earlier one that has the front that flips down and it has a slot for DVDs that stay in there. The latest discs I have seen are 2014 which is still very old...not sure what to update to be honest. However, there are options to improve / alter the trip settings for shorter routes, etc. Mine are access by pressing the relevant buttons to get to alternative routes and it will show all the other potential routes available. Let us know what you find Cheers Trevor

Hi ..... welcome to the Forum I too have a 2007 (3rd Generation) CRV and know what you mean about notchy second gear. This crunching always tends to be when I'm in a hurry to change into second as the revs tend to stay high (on the diesel engine) and is almost unavoidable unless I slow the whole process down. I am aware of doing this and always apologise to the gearbox in the hope that the synchros don't destroy themselves in revenge, lol Cheers Trevor

Transfer case on the bottom of the transmission
Trevor replied to Lance's topic in Honda General Discussions
Hi Lance....welcome to the Forum If it were me, I would jetwash the old engine oil off and see if the leak is there afterwards. If it was a drain plug it could be 'weeping oil' but it is also worth checking the fluid level to be on the safe side. Cheers Trevor -
I believe there are several manuals available in the USA but should be relevant to the UK market
-
Hi Jim...welcome to the Forum Not sure why they are not working but they would not be linked and you may have an independent issue with each system. Fuses are my first thought. Generally the CRV electrical system is bulletproof and not known for faults Let us know what you find Cheers Trevor
-
I'm surprised about the rod out of the block as normally these engines are bulletproof. I believe the CDTi engine is standard across the range....so any 2.2 CDTi engine should fit in your car.

Hi...new Member & Moderator introduction
Trevor replied to Trevor's topic in New Members Introductions
We're in the process of updating the Forum so will see what we can do to get this up and running. Thanks for your input -
Hi...and welcome to the Forum A fellow Mechanic...good to have you onboard! Honda's are great cars, in comparison to other makes but they still have their issues. Not sure about the VSA fault as I've never personally experienced it....but have you had any problems with clutch slipping yet? Cheers Trevor
-
HI Matt An engine swap should be straight forward enough as auxiliary equipment should be transferred across therefore no recoding I would imagine. Unusual for a cam chain to go on a Honda...Nissan on the other hand... Let us know how you get on with it. Regards Trevor
