Hi all, New Honda ownere here, recently picked up a bargain Civic 2.2 ctdi. I've notice the temp guage never quite hits the middle even on extended drives (see pic) The heater does also seem a little weak in cold weather. Is this right or is the the thermostat shot? Is there any way I can see what temp the engine is actually running at without a diagnostic machine? Cheers, Niall

I have had Lionel from new and have wanted to upgrade the feeble horn. How do I get to it and can I fit another one adjacent? I fitted another one in parallel on my Jazz and it sounded great afterwards. That location was in front of the o/s front wheel behind the wheel arch liner. I have finally discovered it down by aircon heat exchanger, RH side when viewed from front. It looks extremely difficult to connect another one in parallel unless I remove sump guard etc.

Hi. Has anyone got any suggestions about how to improve the fuel economy that does not involve tips on driving behaviour. For example remapping, or new microchip, etc? Many thanks. Pete

Hiya folks. I have an 09 2.2 diesel with an annoying ABS warning light….. The warning came on a few months ago and showed a fault with the OSR sensor. I eventually got round to replacing the offending item o oh to find that a fault was now also showing for the OSF sensor. A pain in the butt, but got that replaced too. The warning light now periodically comes on, and then resets when the ignition is turned off for a period of time. There seems to be no pattern for it in terms of speed, journey duration etc. Sometimes I can do my 20mile commute and it’s fine, other times I might go a mile and it comes on. I’ve had all the sensors disconnected and the con…

Hi there, I've wanted to change the head unit in my 2014 Honda Civic to something a little bit more modern. I took the car to Halfords as they seemed to be good value. However, they tried installing the stereo only to find that the stereo would turn itself off after about a minute or so. They tried two different units (Kenwood and Pioneer) and the same thing happened. In the end I think they just gave up as they didn't know what the issue was. Apparently they tried a few cables too, to no avail. Thankfully, I was not charged for anything. Does anyone know why this might happen? The standard stereo works fine, so doesn't seem to be a power issue (or a cabling issue?). …

I have tried to pin down the type of auto transmission fluid filter I need for my 2011 Civic auto 1.8 i-VTEC. There appears to be different types but all listed as suitable replacements. Has anyone else come across this. Also will replacing the old fluid increase the mpg as it is pretty poor. If not are there any suggestions as to improving the mpg. I am not a heavy footed driver! Any advice would be very much appreciated. Pete

I’m looking into buying a Honda Civic this weekend as I’ve always like how they look and I generally think they’re good cars. But I don’t know much about the insides, I’m looking at a 1.8 civic that’s got 218,000 miles on but is £795.. do you think this is a good cheap car to get?

Hi guys, i have a 2006 honda civic 1.8, a few months ago when not started for a couple of days the battery would drain, and i would have to jump start, then all would be fine as long as i started and ran the car daily, the past couple of weeks as soon as i turn off the engine the car is dead and will not start, i changed the battery a few months ago thinking it was that, the car runs fine when running, i am reluctant to take to a garage as im worried they will throw the parts cannon at it, Also i did remove the bluetooth module as i had heard that this was a common problem with these cars, it made no diference thanks steve

I own a Civic 1.8 SE, on an 07 plate. It is by far the best car I have owned and has been very well behaved and reliable. Brakes replaced, battery replaced, brakes replaced again including rear discs this time. Battery replaced again. Rear number plate light filaments replaced and by far the most awkward job, front nearside side light filament! Today, the central locking has failed combined with unable to cancel hazard warning lights (alarm). Engine starts as normal, hazards activate, after approx 30 seconds hazards de-activate for a couple of seconds and then start again. I have checked fuses, seem OK. What to do next. Please Help!

Thinking about a 2012 Civic automatic. A couple of queries:- What are the headlights like. It may seem an odd question but on some cars the later LED or HID units are so much better than Halogen bulbs. Are Civic Halogen, LED or HID? Also are there any issues or problems with the auto boxes? I would also like some of the modern safety features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking but I am bnot sure which Hondas have that and what year that was introduced?

Hi folks Just looking to see if anyone has any idea what is going on with my civic. I own a 2007 Honda Civic type S 1.8 petrol semi-automatic. On Friday when I started it it came up with the system check cog, the engine still run fine but it wouldn't let me go out of neutral. It eventually went away and was okay. I decided not to drive it at this point. Later on I went out to try it again and it worked fine so I took it for a run around the block (which included driving up a hill) and there were no problems. Later that night I went to go out in it to drop someone off, it was okay to start I drove out the street and up a hill and the system check cog came on and i…

Hey everyone. I just bought a used 2014 Honda civic. When I start the car up after leaving it for an extended period of time (like in the morning or after a 12 hour shift at work), the cruise control won't work and the green arrows for shift up and down don't show. The only way to get it to work that I have found is to turn the car off and back on again. The problem only occurs after the car is off for extended periods. Is this an issue? What causes this and can it be fixed?

Can anyone help. My 2007 2.2 diesel type s decided to play up when I needed to get to work. I started to clear the frost my windscreen came back to it 15 minutes later and noticed alll the dash lights are on and the dash flickering and getting brighter as I rev it. The steering wheel was locked in place and the power steering warning light on. It had been fine the day before and the battery is less than 18 months old. I have gone back to the car just a second ago all the dash is on and still flickering radio works but now it won't start. My mechanic is in bed with man flu is there anything I can try in the mean time? Many thanks

Hi all new member here, just bought a 68 plate (Jan 2019) Civic 1.5L Manual Prestige, running on petrol. I was reading the car manual which says it is ok to use regular petrol aka E10 ones temporarily but not for ongoing use as otherwise it might damage the engine. Is this actually the case? I am not sure if I am prepared to pay for the premium E5 petrol on a regular basis in view of current sky high fuel price in the UK...but then when I look at this official Honda article on this topic it seems to suggest both E5 and E10 petrol are fine to use. Any advice are appreciated. Many thanks.
