Discuss the Honda FR-V

  1. Hi, I'm new to the forum but not new to Hondas. We have had 3 Hondas over the past 20 years or so, a Civic Type-R and two Jazz's but we are looking for a cheap car with 6+ seats for family staycations and driving trips in Europe. I'm looking at the FRV 1.8 manual and was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on what to look out for. My main concern is it breaking down while I'm on holiday or having to spend lots of money fixing it after I've driven it away. Most of the FRVs I've seen so far are well in excess of 100,000miles and 98% of them are still using their original clutch - is this a problem? How long does the original clutch tend to …

Hi, my vehicle is suffering rear inner edge tyre wear. I am aware there is some adjustment that can be made on the lower arms, my question is - is there any adjustment that can be made to rear wheel alignment. I believe that the 'adjustment ' nut impacts on the rear camber and is adjustable for each wheel. Anyone can provide some more information on the subject or point me in the right direction ? My vehicle has clocked up 145k miles and has always been a bit heavy on rear tyres, even after 4 wheel alignment at a reputable garage chain, in fact on that occasion an adjustment was made but insufficient adjustment to be within tolerance. The cars history is known …

Hi everyone, had a FR-V for a week now, 2.2 diesel, 103 k miles, plenty of history. Anyway, OSF front brake seems to be binding and getting slightly hotter than the other side, it's not as bad since I've cleaned everything, greased the slide pins, rotated the piston and pushed it back and put a bit of brake fluid under the dust seal. I might have to puta caliper on if it doesn't settle down. Looking at the history it has niffin brakes on the back and sumitomo on the front, is this normal? Also i can't find a sumitomo replacement caliper. Coxs honda lancaster say they aren't available anymore. I take it i need to fit a sumitomo caliper as a niffin wouldn't fit? …

Hello, haven't owned by frv long, it's a 2.2 diesel. Garage said injectors were leaking so changed all 4, still the car will not start. If we spray easy start into it it starts right away and drives absolutely fine. Any ideas I would be very grateful

Hi, My FRV car alarm is constantly sounding. The key fob locks and unlocks the doors, and the car can be driven, but the alarm keeps on sounding intermittently. The car alarm must have drained the battery, which has been replaced. I have changed the batteries on the key fob, and tried disconnecting the sensor attached to the bonnet mechanism/ lock. Nothing seems to work. If anyone has encountered this, and can suggest a fix, I'd be very very grateful! Thanks

The indicator relay went on my car so i had it replaced and since the new one has been fitted my abs light comes on when I brake, the headlight light on the dash comes on when I brake if I have my lights on the brake lights are on all the time and my glow plug light is flashing. Could it be the relay that's causing the problem or is it a wiring problem? I didn't have any problems before the relay was changed. The car has just been serviced and passed it's mot

  11. Hello 2006 Honda FRV with 120k miles on the clock. Reasonably recently had starter motor replaced and gearbox oil changed by local mechanic. Was driving fine. Some issues occasionally with clutch pedal - would press down and it wouldn't engage clutch so would have to come back up and press down again and then it would be fine. But pretty occasionally. Car used for towing a small caravan. Whilst towing gear selection failed entirely. With engine off, you can press clutch pedal and engage gears. With engine on you can press clutch pedal down but cannot engage any gears and if you try 2nd it makes a horrid grinding noise. …

Hi Folks, Probably should have started this tread before buying mine, but still think it's a good topic for discussion, so what in your knowledgeable opinions would be the best FRV engine type out all the options to buy?

Hi all, I have a 2005 1.7 FRV. A while back I had a sudden window issue, the drivers window switch works perfectly but all other windows won’t work from either the master unit or the door switches. I’m feeling the power window lock button has failed in the unit, all fuses fine, I did have to use this regularly as I had young twins playing with the windows, however I want to get the windows going again. I’m happy to fit a new unit before spending the amount I want to ask if anyone has had this issue and what the resolution was, or anyone who has the knowledge to point me right

  18. The night before taking the FR-V for the MOT, I decided to check everything over as I haven't had much opportunity lately, and I found that a sidelight was out in the front O/S headlight. I was going to tweak the rear parking brake adjustment as I had new brake pads put in recently and they've bedded in - that's not going to happen now as I haven't got time, so hopefully it's all OK for the MOT - I'll find out in about 11 hours. Anyway, it's only a sidelight, so 5 to 10 minute job??? Not a chance - unless you've got really bendy wrists, very small hands, and long fingers that grip like a vice. Failing that, a bit of tenacity and some patience - and patience is one th…

Hi all, my wife has an FR-V which the blower motor packed up on. I tried the regulator first but it turned out the fan was broken so I sourced a replacement which is working. The controls on the dash increase and drop the fan speed fine. The issue is that we're not getting any air out of the screen demist vents or any of the cabin facing vents - sides , middle or downward. I've taken the filters out behind the glovebox and am getting good airflow there. I can see the flaps opening when I put the screen fan on and cycling through the downward and forward facing options see the actuators changing. I have spotted 3 of them and all seem to be operating. Can…

Hi ! I'm in the UK and have a Honda FRV 2005. So basically my heater blower has stopped working. I have replaced the resister pack and that has not fixed it. The fuse is fine too. So now I am trying to replace the actual blower motor itself. I have unscrewed the 3 screws holding it in place but it cannot drop down far enough for me to pull it out because the ECU is in the way. So, now I need to remove the ECU from its casing, which is directly below the blower. Once this is removed there will be enough room for the blower to drop down. There are 2 screws/bolts at the front of the ECU, one on each side, I have taken these off however there is something else …

Hi All. Are there any Service.Workshop Manual`s available for the FR-V? (2006 2.2 Diesel). Thanks. Karl.

  24. Hi All, recently found myself a gem of an example of a FR-V with super low miles BUT it has a leak in the aircon system. If anyone knows anyone who specialises in either Honda or AC please drop a message with their details. I had it re-gassed and in 2 weeks its leaked out and no more cold air. My mobile mechanic says most of the time it is either the compressor or condenser. Could also leak from faulty o-rings in the hoses. car has done 53 thousand miles. Thank you

  25. Hello all, Just got back from a failed MOT and I need to sort the Drivers side Mirror indicator. It was cracked and was an advisory for years but now it has packed in. Am I right in thinking its not a bulb but a sealed unit like my mk8 civic was? Local motor factors cant help but Honda want £100 for an indicator 😞 Cant seem to find any replacements anywhere. Any advice appreciated. I fear it may be a complete unit off eBay if I cant just get the "flashing" bit 🙂 Thanks.
