This is not a step-by-step, just a brief overview aimed at pretty competent mechanics ; I could have done with this info to speed up changing mine. Honda wanted 1.100€ here, parts and labour ; the same Denso DAN985 is available on the net for 246€, it took me 4 hours including making the belt-tensioner tool, and next time would be less than half that. There's a series of pictures on the French Cardisiac forum, here, with a French text that is pretty inaccurate. https://forum-auto.caradisiac.com/topic/93607-tuto-révision-complète-honda-frv/page/2/ Look around 18th October 2018. It also shows the revised belt-layou…

Hey Folks, Can anyone advise me on how to fix my 06 1.7ltrs petrol FRV radiotor in place. Was poking around the engine bay the other day and noticed the radiator is sitting loose, looks like some on doing repairs in the past never fixed all the screws back in place. Would anyone have pics or info on where/what screws/bolts should be holding the radiator in place?

Hi folks I'm new to Honda but just got an FRV which I'm now loving, but I've got the 2 original keys which unlock and start the car manually, but neither of which unlock the car remotely ( which Is annoying for me cause I've got 4 kids so always got my hands full ) I just replaced both key batteries and one of the keys emits the little led light when pressed and one doesn't l, so I've been using the one with the working led for the investigation purposes. I've tried to do the key programming mode that I seen a member post about on here but that didn't work. I'm at the point where I don't know where else I should be looking, but I've booked fo…

Hello to all, My Civic mk9 2.2 idtec condenser is leaking and my local Honda garage was going to charge me £700 to replace which i think is asking too much. Just thinking how easy to replace it myself, just needs re gassing afterwards, i have basic mechanical skills but never had to do this sort of work. any reply's will be very grateful.

Hello Unfortunately I've recently had my catalytic converter stolen from a 2006, 2.0L petrol FR-V. They also made a mess of the floor when they jacked it up 😠. Anyway looking to try to repair it and I'm wondering if the cheapest catalytic converter (seems to be made by EuroFlow) is up to the job? And there seems to be several brands of sensors - FuelParts, Cambiare, Blue Print. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these? Does the Euroflow exhaust work well with the FuelParts sensors? Is it likely to trigger the engine MIL or MOT failure? Thanks in advance for any experience that you can share.

Had a man check air con as not working - air con circuit dead to air con clutch. I then recalled that I had a error code reader although no fault on the dash appeared. Code P645 is the error code. So where do I go from here. I do recall several months ago the crunching of something and when turning off air con it went away. So I left it off. Recently turned on air con and no noise but no air con either! What needs to be replaced please and anyone know the part number. I think it is the air con clutch assembly but can I find one...no I cant ! Thanks Bobbybiscuit

Just had a regas on the air con and discovered for following issue Air con was desperate for regas so had it done. Use to work fine last year despite not super cold due to needing the regas. however after regas it’s playing up. When sat on idle everything is engaged and the compressor is spinning but no cold air. But when you apply some revs after a while idling it’s goes super cold for a few seconds but then starts to warm back up. I have removed pollen filters which were a bit old, garage has told me pump is dead. But I’m struggling with this has the pump is spinning at idle but not cooling, and when revs are applied it wakes up and cools for a f…

Hi All, recently found myself a gem of an example of a FR-V with super low miles BUT it has a leak in the aircon system. If anyone knows anyone who specialises in either Honda or AC please drop a message with their details. I had it re-gassed and in 2 weeks its leaked out and no more cold air. My mobile mechanic says most of the time it is either the compressor or condenser. Could also leak from faulty o-rings in the hoses. car has done 53 thousand miles. Thank you

Hi so last week someone did a hit and run on the front of my frv. It’s bang on the centre and bumper is smashed and bonnet lip bent. I managed to get the bonnet open but now it won’t fully close so effectively it’s just open and in the latch. I can open the bonnet from the outside without using the bonnet release from the interior. This also means that the alarm doesn’t fully set (or so I think), as in when car is locked the indicators don’t flash and red dash light doesn’t come on. however randomly the alarm is going off sometimes through the night, or sometimes could go whole day and it won’t go off at all. I have covered the bonnet with a blanket and tuc…

Hello I have a 2006 FR-V, 2.0l petrol. I have had to disconnect the battery to prevent it from being drained during the weeks that we are not using the car whilst waiting for an insurance claim and subsequent repair job to source replacement parts, etc. Is there anything I will likely need to do after reconnecting it, besides from resetting the time on the clock? I'm thinking in terms of security systems, radio codes, remote control pairing for the alarm/immobiliser etc? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer on this

Hi Folks, Probably should have started this tread before buying mine, but still think it's a good topic for discussion, so what in your knowledgeable opinions would be the best FRV engine type out all the options to buy?

Hello Looking for ideas here. I had a catalytic converter and lamda sensors stolen. I bought replacements online (onlineautomotive.co.uk) and a few months later it started tripping the engine management light - P0420: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1). I'm now wondering about trying to get the catalytic converter replaced under warranty and wondering what is the best way to go about it? They understandably want to pick it up, but I need to use the car in the mean time if there is a delay until they send out a replacement or refund. Also wondering if there's a possibility they'll take it and then try to…

Hi Lads, Im probably going to get lots of biased opinions posting here but I wanted to guage if there is an appetite for bringing the FRV back? I love my FRV but is kinda old and falling apart and I would absolutely love to see one in a new or near-new condition (unfortunately there is none in Ireland). Also with the popularity of cross overs "SUV's" I think with a little style change and slightly higher suspension the FRV would make the absolute megga cross over?!? So, any opinions?? Is there any other FRV fans out there and if so, how many? 🤓🤓

Hello! The offside drive shaft of our 2005, 143,000 mile 2.0 Sport Vtec FR-V has broken so could cost the best part of £1,000 to replace and repair. Does anyone know where to get a good second hand one from and a driver's seatbelt with fittings, too? I can only find a drive shaft from Honda which is almost £800, way more expensive than the £120 it would have cost for a new, nearside driveshaft from an alternative supplier. And even Honda doesn't appear to stock a seat belt... so no point replacing the shaft if the car then fails the MoT due in July re the seatbelt issue... We are only the second owners and have had the car …

Hi. I'm having an issue with my car not that's not starting. Had a problem for a few months now. I would turn the key and it wouldn't immediately start. I could hear the crank sound. I'd have to hold the key forward and it would start after several seconds. Then it completely died. I've had 3 people look at it. The first person from a local garage bought a battery incase it was the battery but he said it wasn't. Lights were coming on etc. The second person from a different garage I recovered it to changed the starter motor thinking that was the issue. That got the car working. However, a few days later, the same problem star…
