You're absolutely right Charlie but if you consider that just 20-30 years ago, loads of people maintained their cars, from anything like a small service to inflating the tyres. I don't see much evidence of any maintenance being carried out on the cars that I service that come in with partially flat tyres, low fluid levels and general lack of respect for the vehicle 😞

Hi Charlie...welcome to the forum We had an Accord 2.2 cdti a few years ago, was hugely economical for quite a large car, makes you wonder whether its worth getting a small car for economy really 🙂 What repairs did you have to carry out to put it back on the road? Good to have you onboard

Sorry to hear about your wife's relatives and friends succumbing to the virus....its a difficult time all round really 😞 Bridgestones would be my personal choice if they weren't a huge amount more than the Nexans, which are also a good tyre as well

I'm not sure it relates so much to 2wd / 4wd as it is calculated by CO2 emissions which in turn could be higher due to the transmission but not so much with the CR-V as is it passive system and only functions when needed (Crossover) so not much to affect the fuel consumption / CO2 levels. If the transmission is automatic compared to manual then this may also have an effect on the levels

Its unusual on a Honda, although very common on Vauxhalls as well as quite a few other brands

Hi Andy.....hope you are staying well? I would not compromise on tyres, definitely not cheap budgets as usually from China an lethal in the wet (and the dry also)....very bad experiences with these in the past. Stick to Dunlops if you can otherwise, Michelin, Goodyear, Avon, Continental or Bridgestone are other good makes. May be worth checking the wheel alignment as the rear alignment can usually be out slightly and affect wear on the front tyres. The rear suspension is adjustable so ensure that anyone carrying out alignment adjusts the rear first, will make a difference to the handling also as tend to pull to camber on the left if unadusted. Take care, Trevor

Pcv or breather location? 2007 frv 2.2 I cdti
Trevor replied to Steve sheargold's topic in Honda FR-V Club
The Italian Tune up always works 🙂 The turbo lag will be the same thing, coked up with carbon so gently increase the engine revs over time and this should clear it through -
Hi Jon That was my first thoughts. It is worth replacing both springs as if one has gone the other won't be too far behind and it gives an even drive and steering is not compromised.

Hi Richard.....welcome to the Forum You'll find that you can carry out a wide range of modifications on Civics but it always comes down to one thing.....money! However, there are some cheap mods you can do at home for a reasonable price without getting too carried away, such as suspension bushes and adjustable links which will make a huge difference to the handling. An upgrade on the brakes aswell is always a good thing to do before looking at any performance increases Keep us updated on the mods as always interested in seeing Civics modded

Hi....welcome to the Forum Well, the aftermarket doesn't seem to support the FRV when it comes to driveshafts so eBay it is then https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.Xhonda+frv+driveshaft.TRS0&_nkw=honda+frv+driveshaft&_sacat=0 Hopefully you should find one to fit but avoid Chinese made products as quality is poor

Pcv or breather location? 2007 frv 2.2 I cdti
Trevor replied to Steve sheargold's topic in Honda FR-V Club
I've personally never had any issues with oil consumption and resulting blue smoke. Two things come to mind, the first one being the correct grade and quality of oil used and secondly whether it needs an 'Italian Tune-Up' at high revs in low gears for an extended period to clear the engine of carbon deposits which could be gumming the rings in the pistons if excessive carbon has built up over time. My 2.2 CRV definitely benefits from long hard runs and always seems fresher after a good blast....worth a try as costs nothing! -
Its probably then a case of going through the wiring and connections checking for any breaks or poor connections

Hi....welcome to the Forum Always welcome to ask any questions you may have. Good to have you onboard 🙂

Hi What mileage has the engine done Are there any unusual sounds associated with the engine? -
I would check that each door and boot sensor is working by seeing if it illuminates the interior light and extinguishes it when the door is closed If one or more are not working properly then it may be the door switch or wiring at fault

Hi.....welcome to the Forum You should have no real issues with the Accord as incredibly reliable and durable so should last for years if maintained correctly Good to have you onboard

Hi....welcome to the Forum I believe Thule make some roof mounted bike carriers and am sure they would have some adapters to fit the Civic
-
Hi.....welcome to the Forum Well it looks like an original or if not quite an old battery so chances are its no longer holding a charge. A replacement would probably resolve the issue. Not entirely sure what the box on top of the battery is but if in doubt you could disconnect it and see what happens but if new battery installed then probably okay left connected.

The only way to get in without damaging anything would be to remove the inner panel and access the lock from inside

07 Honda Accord Tourer 2.2 icdti Help Please
Trevor replied to EPearce123's topic in 2003 to 2008 Accord
Hi Emma....welcome to the Forum The 2.2 cdti engine is usually completely reliable but your husband has replaced anything that could have been causing the issues you mention. The only thing that sounds doubtful is that the ECU has been remapped and this may be the problem if something has occurred in the programming. You could possibly give them a ring to see if they know if the remap could be an issue. When did the problems really start or was it gradual thing over time? One other area to examine would be the exhaust, if this was blocked then it would strangle the engine.....build the revs up so that the turbo is boosting and see how much exhaust gas pressure is coming out of the tailpipe....it should be enough to push your hand back (be careful of gas being hot and wear a thick glove) -
Hi Andy.....welcome to the Forum The 2.2 is an excellent engine with no real known issues. Just ensure that the clutch and dual mass flywheel are in good condition and you should have not problems. Very economical and powerful car.....enjoy! 🙂

Hi....welcome to the Forum Glad to hear you are having no issues with the Accord, usually when they are stored up this can result in certain problems, seized brakes, flat battery, etc but it sounds like you are not having any of these. Trickling the battery is by far the best way to keep it in tip-top condition and not leaving the handbrake on helps to ensure that the pads don't seize to the discs. I always believe that if you have such a reliable car and it doesn't owe you much then its not worth getting rid of as its then free motoring 🙂 I have BMW Z3 which i store up in the winter and dig out in the spring, flew the MOT test in the week and just needs polishing otherwise had it for years and it owes me nothing. Good to have you onboard

Vibration from engine when turning wheel left or right
Trevor replied to Mossy's topic in Honda FR-V Club
Its definitely worth removing the auxiliary drivebelt (that drives the alternator, etc) and listening to the engine at idle when cold. If this removes the 'piston slap' noise then there's your answer. To be fair, I have not encountered piston slap in an engine for many years and would be surprised it was in a modern day Honda engine Let me know how this goes as now absolutely curious to know if this cures both issues -
Vibration from engine when turning wheel left or right
Trevor replied to Mossy's topic in Honda FR-V Club
Hi....welcome to the forum I know that crankshaft pulleys tend to break up on some Honda's so worth looking into the engine bay when the engine is at idle and in park. See if there is any oscillation on the crank pulley and also if the drivebelts are twitching/slapping on rotation. Sometimes, piston slap can be confused with a faulty crank pulley or defective drivebelts, usually noticeable in absence when the belt is removed
