  1. Hi Simon....welcome to the forum The Civic will be miles apart from the BMW in so many ways but it is a difference that is positive especially with the future proofing, reliability, etc. I don't think you'll be disappointed but maybe worth driving a few first just to make sure you like it or even look at the CRV as a potential....an absolutely fine vehicle for every situation and I couldn't think of a better family vehicle that delivers such a superb mpg, comfort and reliability Let us know how you get on and when you get a Honda
  2. I had this issue a couple of weeks ago with a Kia Sportage, virtually same issues.....ended up changing the alternator and sorted it. However, the alternator was trying to charge so I checked all the leads, especially the earth leads to ensure there was continuity throughout the charging circuit before committing to a new/rebuilt alternator. If the alternator is hot then chances are it is more than likely faulty. Let us know how you get on with it
  3. Can you clean up the connection or make an external connection with some wire and splice it into the loom? If not, then breakers yard is the other option I suppose but possibly has the same issue if it is a common fault Let us know how you get on with it
  4. Let us know if it fits okay, cheers
  5. Hi ..... welcome to the Forum Good to have you onboard
  6. Hi Pob....welcome to the Forum I personally would go for the older version solely because they were free of any issues and not so sure about the newer spec ones. The CDTi engine is sound and should never give any issues so no worries there. Just make sure that if it is the older model that it has been maintained correctly and at the specified times. Let us know how you get on with finding one
  7. I think you'll find once you use the system (Sat Nav and Radio) that it will take the time from these signals and update the time/date automatically
  8. yes, same area but seperate when removed the retaining screws
  9. Hi....welcome to the Forum from memory and replacing control unit on a CRV a few weeks ago, carefully remove the fascia plate and the panel stays in place with a couple screws retaining it. Replaced the panel and the A/C worked fine after that. Let us know what you find
  10. Hi....welcome to the Forum Not entirely sure of accessing sub-menus in the vehicle system and indeed what levels are available in the dealer software/hardware to be able to initialise this feature. As you say, it is functional in the States and also other countries where insurance specifies it has to occur for reasons of personal safety. It is worth asking your local dealer if they can 'switch it on' for you. Let us know what you find out
  11. One from a Toyota owners club news page but the principles are the same https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/news/articles/tips-on-how-to-keep-your-car-germ-free-r117/?fbclid=IwAR13lZqb_h4a90IwUtOwnnBMaEOg29r8g0XT8R22Obxbpjr6ndIu70zbDpA
  12. From 30 March 2020, MOT due dates for cars, motorcycles and light vans will be extended by 6 months. This is being done to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. https://autoevoke.com/index.php?/news/forums/from-30-march-2020-mot-due-dates-will-be-extended-by-6-months-r119/
  13. Hi....welcome to the Forum Usually DAB requires an additional aerial to pick up digital stations. https://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/stereo-fittings/autoleads-dab-film-antenna-smb---dab-aa1-338357.html Worth trying for £20 to see if that improves things
  14. Hi Nick....welcome to the Forum I believe there are a few other early Accord owners on this site. Many miles on it? Good to have you (and your wife's car) onboard
  15. Hi....welcome to the Forum I'm not sure personally but if local then I would be tempted to try them for size, if not then I suppose if they have a returns policy then maybe this is the way forward?
  16. Hi....welcome to the Forum Sorry to hear about the FRV as the diesel engine is usually so reliable Look forward to seeing some pics of the Stream
  17. Hi Iain.....welcome to the Forum It sounds like one of two things: Power Steering Fluid is low Auxiliary drivebelt is slipping or damaged Check also the tyre pressures are correct (e.g. above 30 psi) Let us know what you find
  18. Hi John.....welcome to the Forum Most quality seat cover which comply to British Standards would work with side airbags and there are quite a few British companies producing covers to suit your car Here's a couple to start with https://www.theseatsurgeons.co.uk/ https://stormtight.co.uk/
  19. Hi Cameron....welcome to the Forum The Civic does indeed come in many different forms and having driven a few its fair to say that I think it definitely comes down to personal choice. Take as many different variants out and see which one floats your boat the most. Let us know how you get on with it
  20. Hi....welcome to the Forum I too have recently tackled a similar task on a 2005 CRV and although I have not yet removed the heater motor I have diagnosed it as the motor at fault....power going to the motor but not working, has to be the motor. Would be interested to know what you eventually find it to be as I have to tackle this job in the near future
  21. With all the bad news thats going around lately, let's all keep our chin up with a bit of music. Let's run a "Your song of the day" using YouTube videos Pop a new song up daily and keep it going! my choice today is The Chain by Fleetwood Mac, seems to be chilling me out but giving just enough drive to power me through the day 🙂
  22. puncture
  23. My first thoughts are you have a slight exhaust leak before the cat, or even a crack in the manifold. The only true way to determine this is to either place a rag firmly over the exhaust and listen for escaping air....there's your leak! Alternatively, if you have a friendly garage, ask them to measure the oxygen levels in the exhaust gases and if much more than 0% to 1% you have air in the gas which means its drawing it from somewhere and not burning it (post combustion) Let us know what you find
  24. I would probably think that it wouldn't be a crank sensor if the engine is running and restarts (albeit reluctantly). If the fuel pump was replaced then there is probably air in the fuel filter head which if you pump the bulb then this will draw it to the top and then engine will fire up almost instantly. If the bulb is weak and gets firmer with pumping it then you have air trapped in the system which needs to be bled out
  25. Hi Dan.....welcome to the Forum Here is a link to Adrian Flux who provide a discount to Owners Club members on policies. https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/car-insurance/ If you mention Honda Owners Club and hopefully you'll get a cheaper quote
