I had an old model (1st generation) CR-V drive past me yesterday and it was kitted out for off-road. Have to say it looked very impressive and judging by this video it is not all show but indeed can go offroad as well

Toothpaste is apparently very good as a scrub to remove the build up on the lenses

Do you have fault code(s) from the vehicle? If you could narrow it down to what exactly is bringing the warning light on then it may be easier to diagnose. Sometimes written on the invoice or if not, then ask the dealer for the codes they extracted from the engine management ECM

Relay Cleaner Control module. What does it do?
Trevor replied to Goonersman's topic in CR-V 2001 to 2006
As far as I can tell it is for the headlight washers so is tied in with the windscreen washers and also takes a power signal from the headlamps when switched on -
It has a timing chain and also naturally aspirated engine

1999 Shuttle 2.3iLS Randomly cutting out. Relay?
Trevor replied to 60Six's topic in Honda Shuttle / Odyssey Club
Thanks for giving feedback on the issue and glad it was quite a simple (and cheap) fix -
If the tyres are worn on the inside edge then either you have excessive camber (where the wheels are pointing inwards at the top when viewed from behind or the wheels have excessive toe-in Either way it is advisable to get a four wheel alignment check carried out to determine the cause of the tyre wear

Ah that's an even better price then! Clutches can wear faster when towing heavy weights (twin axle car trailer for example) but it is also the stop-start motion on the transmission which is being pushed to the limit unless the trailer is braked and then this can reduce the 'whiplash' on the transmission components

Hi....welcome to the Club What happened with the original engine. how did it fail?
-
Hi Tony Perfect car for the environment by the sounds of it A lot less to go wrong with that generation of CR-V as well so more suited to taking onto rough and unmade roads Good to have you onboard!

Seems fair enough considering the level of work required to replace the clutch I would, however, be expecting to have the Dual Mass Flywheel replaced within that cost as well
-
I think I would be tempted to soak the nuts in WD40 or other penetrating oils over time before attempting to undo them. Using a wire brush in between treatments should also remove corrosion and you then stand a chance of removing them without breaking the studs and also being able to reuse the nuts

surely that has to be a safety recall issue worth checking the VOSA database for this issue https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall

Useful information Alan....I will check where the cat food we buy originates from

Judder on take off gets worse when hot. Auto HR-V 1.6 2002
Trevor replied to middleportreddie's topic in HR-V 1999 to 2006
To be on the safe side and to eliminate a component that will need maintenance at some point then I would recommend a transmission fluid and filter change You at least can see how bad (if that is the case) the fluid and filter are -
Hi Barrie....welcome to the Club Very unfortunate incident and no insurance payout? 😞 Not sure about the SatNav disc but if its not in the head unit in the dash then it may be in the boot area behind a panel Good to have you onboard!

Hi....welcome to the Club You can't go wrong with a Honda so as long as you keep up with the routine maintenance you shouldn't get any serious issues with the HR-V You are always welcome to help answer any posts you feel you can assist with your knowledge Good to have you onboard!

Hi Chas....welcome to the Club A glutton for punishment with restoring Honda's but they are amongst the best cars to work on compared to many other makes. I was always working on MG and Rover cars as not too dissimilar to Honda and always enjoyed working on them. Good to have you on board and you are welcome to assist in answering any posts that you can as you have the in-depth knowledge

what viscosity engine oil for a 1984 honda accord ex 1829cc
Trevor replied to Johnny2Hondas's topic in 1982 to 1994 Accord
Hi...welcome to the Club I always refer to Castrol oil selector which also shows quantities https://www.castrol.com/en_gb/united-kingdom/home/car-engine-oil-and-fluids/motor-oil-and-fluids-finder.html -
Based in the county of Dorset so lovely scenery. I'll bet the scenery and roads are superb in both Ireland and Scotland? Sold my CR-V and the only Honda I have at the moment is the Honda Africa Twin motorcycle. The thing is with Honda, it doesn't matter whether it is a car or motorbike, they are reliable and well built. Good luck with the move Bill.

Similar issue with CR-V of similar year. Worth a try using the same method
