  1. Started by Bon Scott,

Hello does anybody know where the PGM FI relay is ? Iv got a 2005 1.7 FR V that iv just replaced the head gasket and all the belts on. It worked fine for 20 miles or so, making various stops for shopping and then on the motorway it just cut out and wont start at all. Theres spark from the plugs and fuel is pumping to the injector rail but they're not firing. apparently the PGM FI relay is a common fault on Hondas and when they fail either the fuel pump stops working or the injectors. The pump is pumping. So i just need to find it and test it or swap it with the one in my other FRV which the clutch has gone on. Iv looked on both fuse boards plus looked behind the glove box…

Hi. Does anyone know where I can get a bottom ball joint for my Honda 2.2ctdi FRV 2006? I was told by Honda that I couldn't buy just the ball joint and would have to buy the complete hub carrier for nearly £300. I ended up doing this for the drivers side (crying as I did so) but now the passenger side will soon need replacing and I am loathe to do so again. I have the old ball joint from the driver's side in my hand so I know it does separate from the hub carrier. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to overcome it? 🤞 It's not the sort of part that I want to get from a breakers because it would undoubtedly have wear issues too. Hoping someone will be able to hel…

  4. The night before taking the FR-V for the MOT, I decided to check everything over as I haven't had much opportunity lately, and I found that a sidelight was out in the front O/S headlight. I was going to tweak the rear parking brake adjustment as I had new brake pads put in recently and they've bedded in - that's not going to happen now as I haven't got time, so hopefully it's all OK for the MOT - I'll find out in about 11 hours. Anyway, it's only a sidelight, so 5 to 10 minute job??? Not a chance - unless you've got really bendy wrists, very small hands, and long fingers that grip like a vice. Failing that, a bit of tenacity and some patience - and patience is one th…

Hello, just joined forum, and recently bought FRV 2.2 diesel. I have noticed the engine takes an age to warm up, more so as the weather is getting colder. I believe the thermostat is either stuck open or is missing completely. I have bought a new thermostat, but looking in the engine bay I cannot see the housing. I think it is under the EGR valve somewhere. Could I access the thermostat from underneath if I removed the plastic engine shield? Any info greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello all, I am out of ideas and hoping someone can share their ideas and suggestions. I have an 2008 FR-V 2.2 diesel with under 120k miles but for last couple of years it has been hardly used. I replaced all four brake discs and pads as first thing due all brakes being very rusty, only noticing driver side rear calliper was a bit stiff but managed to compress all cylinders without excessive force. Went on to the road and the stiff calliper started to smell badly and brake disc turned darkish (obvious overheat). I naturally thought calliper seized, so took it apart but only found seal slightly trapped (fitted improperly). May I also note all four c…

  8. Hello Unfortunately I've recently had my catalytic converter stolen from a 2006, 2.0L petrol FR-V. They also made a mess of the floor when they jacked it up 😠. Anyway looking to try to repair it and I'm wondering if the cheapest catalytic converter (seems to be made by EuroFlow) is up to the job? And there seems to be several brands of sensors - FuelParts, Cambiare, Blue Print. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these? Does the Euroflow exhaust work well with the FuelParts sensors? Is it likely to trigger the engine MIL or MOT failure? Thanks in advance for any experience that you can share.

Hi, I own a 2008 FR-V 1.8 Trend automatic 4-spd, LHD. I'm looking to source new engine mounts, but prefer purchasing from a garage/mechanic/supplier to ensure I'm buying the correct items. I've done some research online, but the best I can find is this: https://www.parts-honda.uk/honda-cars/FR-V/2008/18-1.8-TREND/BODY-PARTS/ENGINE-MOUNTS-18L--AT-/17SJD501/B__4704/6/20644. The above link displays 23 parts, and I have no idea what's right to order. Any recommendations of a garage/mechanic/supplier who could help me would be much appreciated. Thanks much, Daniel

Hi everyone. I’ve got an FRV 2.2 CTDI. The clutch pedal got stiff so I replaced the clutch, pressure & release bearing. The flywheel is not a dual mass I assume it’s been modified as the clutch kit was an LUK. Anyway the clutch pedal after bleeding over & over has a low biting point & hard to get into gear, so I replaced the slave cylinder which made no difference. I’m thinking the clutch master is defective as I can press the slave cylinder rod back in by hand. If I pump the pedal every time to change gears and in between a change they engage fine. Parts for these car’s are so dear and I can’t keep throwing money at it. Please advise if anyone has had this Is…

  11. Hi I have a 2008 1.8 EX FR-V. The little pull down flap drawer thing has come loose and fallen off along with a spring clip which somehow needs to be fixed to the drawer or housing. I've tried various ways this could go together but struggling to refit with the spring. The drawer door clips into please but drops down all of the time which I presume the spring clip keeps the drawer door in place when closed. Does anyone know how this goes together please? I would be very grateful to get some idea perhaps someone could post a picture of theirs so I can get an idea please? Many thanks

Hi all, just bought a 2005 FRV CDTI. Got a few niggly bits I need to sort out... the boot wouldn’t shut closed, i.e. that reassuring click-clunk you get. When I eventually got it to shut and lock, it now won’t open. I’m assuming it could be the latch. I should’ve given it a spray of WD40 when it was open. Is there anyway to open the boot from inside? What could be the problem? cant believe we didn’t notice this when looking at car but the glovebox handle is missing, so we can’t open that. It’s just a whole there. The driver’s electric window switch is faulty. It appears I can’t just replace the button, I have to replace the whole electric w…

So I have this issue that unlock function doesn't always work. Or more like works once in 10-20 attempts. Its the same if you use fob or key in the handle, it turns easily and actuates the doors but then immediately locks again. Once unlocked it locks fine. Is it drivers door lock mechanism that's failing?

Hi all, have a FR-V 2006 CDTI, and need to work out the location of the power window relay. Can anyone help (no power windows, so I'm guessing it's a common point of failure)? Thanks, Ian

Hi everyone, I have an issue with my FRV where the central locking won't open unless I press the key fob several times. I hear the noise and interior lights turn on but quickly go off and all the doors and boot remain locked. After several presses it eventually opens, when it does the noise (possibly an actuator) is slightly different. Any thoughts?

My 2005 FR-V has a leak where water is getting into the footwell. I saw a YouTube video that showed water getting in where a gland on a cable had come out but my problem seems to be the strip on the right hand side of the windshield that seals it. I can see water coming in through the door seal just below the little triangle shaped window is. I pulled the carpet up and left it like that for now!! I think the part is number 13 on here https://www.amayama.com/en/catalogs/honda/fr-v/1-van-3-left-be-2005-447/body-parts-6/molding-2429 but it's not easy to find an actual part. Any alternative ideas as to how I could seal that side a different…

Hi all, I have a 2005 1.7 FRV. A while back I had a sudden window issue, the drivers window switch works perfectly but all other windows won’t work from either the master unit or the door switches. I’m feeling the power window lock button has failed in the unit, all fuses fine, I did have to use this regularly as I had young twins playing with the windows, however I want to get the windows going again. I’m happy to fit a new unit before spending the amount I want to ask if anyone has had this issue and what the resolution was, or anyone who has the knowledge to point me right

Hi. I'm having an issue with my car not that's not starting. Had a problem for a few months now. I would turn the key and it wouldn't immediately start. I could hear the crank sound. I'd have to hold the key forward and it would start after several seconds. Then it completely died. I've had 3 people look at it. The first person from a local garage bought a battery incase it was the battery but he said it wasn't. Lights were coming on etc. The second person from a different garage I recovered it to changed the starter motor thinking that was the issue. That got the car working. However, a few days later, the same problem star…

  24. Hello I have an 2006 FR-V, 2L petrol which has recently had a replacement catalytic converter and lambda sensors fitted after the originals were stolen. A couple of months after they were fitted, the yellow engine malfunction light has been coming on. I've taken it to my local mechanic who found the P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold fault code (alongside P2185 - although P0420 was listed first and I've had P2185 sporadically before). He's cleared it a few times but each time it comes back on within a week. I believe that P2185 has been resolved with a new coolant temperature sensor at the bottom of the radiator (the conne…

Hi Lads, Im probably going to get lots of biased opinions posting here but I wanted to guage if there is an appetite for bringing the FRV back? I love my FRV but is kinda old and falling apart and I would absolutely love to see one in a new or near-new condition (unfortunately there is none in Ireland). Also with the popularity of cross overs "SUV's" I think with a little style change and slightly higher suspension the FRV would make the absolute megga cross over?!? So, any opinions?? Is there any other FRV fans out there and if so, how many? 🤓🤓
