  1. Hi....welcome to the forum I have come across these before and they appear to work quite well. If someone is coming by to steal your cat then if you make it difficult (but not impossible) for them they will probably leave it and move onto another one that is not protected http://www.catsafe.org.uk/
  2. Hi Bob I can see your dilemma. The main problem I see is that rolling diameter will be different and this can cause faults such as the ABS sensing a disparity between this wheel and the others on the car. If you were to see if there is a tyre with a taller profile that would equate to the same rolling diameter then I don't see an issue with using it. As long as the wheel fits the boot well I cannot see why it would fail an MOT though.
  3. Sounds very odd! Hopefully they can nail on Thursday....fingers crossed
  4. Hi....welcome to the Forum Always good to have a fellow mechanic on board....feel free to help out with any technical posts on here if you want to. Cheers . Trevor
  5. Hi Roy Could you please give us some more details about what happened before it packed up
  6. Sounds like it is running on a default setting while the EML is on and that is resulting in it running properly....in which case a sensor setting would be substituted for a known value....e.g. it definitely sounds like an engine sensor at fault
  7. Hi...welcome to the Forums Never had any issues with reception on my CRV radio (SatNav large screen type) so wouldn't say its a known issue Here is a link to one (SatNav version - but don't think the standard version would be any different) https://fave.co/39RD3bj It does show the connector and also the length of loom may give you some idea of where it is likely to be plugged in (my guess it the rear pillar area) Let us know what you find
  8. Hi ....welcome to the forum I would definitely change it on the basis that it is 6 years old, regardless of mileage in that period. As it is a rubber component the belt is subject to perishing over time. Quite possibly the tensioners and idlers should be okay as they haven't done much work so would only need the belt
  9. Hi....welcome to the Forum I would pop to the local Honda dealer who would probably be quite obliging and show you how to connect it up. Let us know how you get on with it
  10. I do wonder if the fuel filter will resolve it but also if they scan it to see if there are any fault codes as may be something like the crankshaft sensor playing up. Would be interested to know what it turns out to be
  11. If the engine turns over at a fast speed (with no resistance from the cylinders pumping) then it sounds like the timing belt/chain has broken. If you remove the oil filler cap and if possible see if the camshaft is turning when someone is turning the engine over on the key and if it is not then it is no longer connected to the crankshaft and its game over Let us know what you find
  12. Glad to hear the CRV is okay now. I used to live in Port Solent and ride my motorbike up to the hill....lovely viewpoint and as for the burgers, what can I say....they're like a three-course meal and that's without the chips! 🙂
  13. Hi Martin.....welcome to the Forum It could be related if a common sensor is providing information to both systems. It may be worth switching off the Stop/Start to see if this makes any difference to the operation of the Cruise Control Let us know what you find out
  14. Let us know how you get on with the fuel filter. I replaced one on my CRV diesel after that was displaying similar symptoms (forgot about that one). By the way, is Micks Monster Burgers still on Portsdown Hill ?
  15. Hi Moss.....welcome to the Forum I owned a CRV for many years and find it a superb vehicle. They of course have their failings but these are so minimal and cheap to resolve. Always looking for any help you can provide to the Forum along the way Good to have you onboard
  16. Hi Charlotte....welcome to the Forum There are stores who sell the discs a lot cheaper than the dealer https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/honda-22-c.asp Good to have you onboard
  17. Hi Ken....welcome to the Forum I would be tempted to trawl the local scrap yards to see what they have there. If its a common alloy then I'm sure they should be widely available Let us know how you get on with finding one
  18. That sounds fair enough to me....would get more from a manual gearbox but for an auto, thats not bad at all
  19. Hi Andy I wonder if it is the Turbo variable vanes gummed up, quite common on a lot of cars. With the Automatic Transmission, it tends to shift up early and the Turbo would not get the spooling it needs to keep it clear of carbon. Would suggest to get it scanned and see if it comes up with boost related issues. If so, then an Italian Tune-Up is required to get it clear and keep it clean by driving it hard every so often
  20. It may possibly be the battery at fault. If the battery is completely flat and sulphated and may also have defective cells, then this will not allow the alternator to charge due to excessively low voltage being supplied to it. It would be worthwhile trying a new battery and then taking a reading from the alternator once the engine is running with a fresh battery.
  21. It is quite possible that it could be the friction lining material on the clutch plate that is causing it to judder but also the dual mass flywheel could also cause this but unlikely to be there going from 1st to 2nd gear. The CRV also uses a SAC (self adjusting clutch) which is too weak for the purpose so that also may be a possible cause.
  22. Usually on a card within the handbook pack but otherwise it is a trip to the local dealership who should be able to provide it at no cost to you
  23. Hi....is it petrol or diesel?
  24. Did they replace the Dual Mass Flywheel at the same time? Also, is there any noises associated with the shuddering?
  25. My first thoughts are that it has to be related to the Battery replacement. Either the terminals are loose or corroded and especially check the earth connections from the battery to the chassis. Check also loose connections throughout the engine bay but more so in and around the battery area
