  1. This is not a step-by-step, just a brief overview aimed at pretty competent mechanics ; I could have done with this info to speed up changing mine. Honda wanted 1.100€ here, parts and labour ; the same Denso DAN985 is available on the net for 246€, it took me 4 hours including making the belt-tensioner tool, and next time would be less than half that. There's a series of pictures on the French Cardisiac forum, here, with a French text that is pretty inaccurate. https://forum-auto.caradisiac.com/topic/93607-tuto-révision-complète-honda-frv/page/2/ Look around 18th October 2018. It also shows the revised belt-layou…

Hello, just joined forum, and recently bought FRV 2.2 diesel. I have noticed the engine takes an age to warm up, more so as the weather is getting colder. I believe the thermostat is either stuck open or is missing completely. I have bought a new thermostat, but looking in the engine bay I cannot see the housing. I think it is under the EGR valve somewhere. Could I access the thermostat from underneath if I removed the plastic engine shield? Any info greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  4. Hello 2006 Honda FRV with 120k miles on the clock. Reasonably recently had starter motor replaced and gearbox oil changed by local mechanic. Was driving fine. Some issues occasionally with clutch pedal - would press down and it wouldn't engage clutch so would have to come back up and press down again and then it would be fine. But pretty occasionally. Car used for towing a small caravan. Whilst towing gear selection failed entirely. With engine off, you can press clutch pedal and engage gears. With engine on you can press clutch pedal down but cannot engage any gears and if you try 2nd it makes a horrid grinding noise. …

  6. Hello I have an 2006 FR-V, 2L petrol which has recently had a replacement catalytic converter and lambda sensors fitted after the originals were stolen. A couple of months after they were fitted, the yellow engine malfunction light has been coming on. I've taken it to my local mechanic who found the P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold fault code (alongside P2185 - although P0420 was listed first and I've had P2185 sporadically before). He's cleared it a few times but each time it comes back on within a week. I believe that P2185 has been resolved with a new coolant temperature sensor at the bottom of the radiator (the conne…

  8. Hello Unfortunately I've recently had my catalytic converter stolen from a 2006, 2.0L petrol FR-V. They also made a mess of the floor when they jacked it up 😠. Anyway looking to try to repair it and I'm wondering if the cheapest catalytic converter (seems to be made by EuroFlow) is up to the job? And there seems to be several brands of sensors - FuelParts, Cambiare, Blue Print. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these? Does the Euroflow exhaust work well with the FuelParts sensors? Is it likely to trigger the engine MIL or MOT failure? Thanks in advance for any experience that you can share.

HI everyone, I have a 1.8 Frv with 140k on clock, family owned from new. Very recently I can see inner tyre wear on both front tyres inner edges. Car drives ok and no unusual sounds when on steering. I'm away on holiday ATM so can't talk a proper look, or provide any pics. Recent Mot pass no advisors. Has anyone else come across this issue, I'm suspecting some kind if suspension issue. Thanks. Chris

  11. Hi I have a 2008 1.8 EX FR-V. The little pull down flap drawer thing has come loose and fallen off along with a spring clip which somehow needs to be fixed to the drawer or housing. I've tried various ways this could go together but struggling to refit with the spring. The drawer door clips into please but drops down all of the time which I presume the spring clip keeps the drawer door in place when closed. Does anyone know how this goes together please? I would be very grateful to get some idea perhaps someone could post a picture of theirs so I can get an idea please? Many thanks

Hello Just wanted to share my experience. 2006 Honda FR-V, 2.0L petrol. Started to get this code coming up. At first I ignored it for a while hoping it was a one-off (there was also another possibly unrelated fault as well that was also causing the yellow light to come on). I decided to investigate it so I had the mechanic reset it and within 15mins it had already come back on again, before I had even gone home. Seeing that the part from Honda costs around £150 I ordered this one from eBay and asked my mechanic to fit it. Two days later the light came back on again. I am not sure that the above is as genuine as it seemed…

Hi. I'm having an issue with my car not that's not starting. Had a problem for a few months now. I would turn the key and it wouldn't immediately start. I could hear the crank sound. I'd have to hold the key forward and it would start after several seconds. Then it completely died. I've had 3 people look at it. The first person from a local garage bought a battery incase it was the battery but he said it wasn't. Lights were coming on etc. The second person from a different garage I recovered it to changed the starter motor thinking that was the issue. That got the car working. However, a few days later, the same problem star…

Hi all. So I have this FR-V that's causing me headache for a while. It's a 2008 2.2 diesel with 6speed manual gearbox, just over 123k miles. Bought it with few issues that I thought will be easy to fix, but stuck at the moment.. The main issue is that the car is pulling to the left. The odd thing about it is that the pull is not consistent. I.e. in the morning, when you set off there's no noticeable pull, while couple roundabouts later, you really need to hold the steering wheel! Also the steering wheel seems to be easier to turn to left rather than right. Car recently had both front wheel bearings done, new track rod ends, second hand shocks (a…

Hi all, just bought a 2005 FRV CDTI. Got a few niggly bits I need to sort out... the boot wouldn’t shut closed, i.e. that reassuring click-clunk you get. When I eventually got it to shut and lock, it now won’t open. I’m assuming it could be the latch. I should’ve given it a spray of WD40 when it was open. Is there anyway to open the boot from inside? What could be the problem? cant believe we didn’t notice this when looking at car but the glovebox handle is missing, so we can’t open that. It’s just a whole there. The driver’s electric window switch is faulty. It appears I can’t just replace the button, I have to replace the whole electric w…

Hi, our lovely Honda FRV 2.2 diesel is having difficulty getting in first and second gear. Sometimes you have to dip the clutch 2 or 3 times to select the correct gear. Any thoughts or opinions welcomed?

  19. Hello guys Just has a quick question, I've recently upgraded my headunit to a new pioneer double din, ive used the connect 2 interface and the new stalk patch lead for the steering wheel control however my controls for the stereo do not work, the green plug which plugs into the back of the original factor stereo remains untouched as I am not sure if it has the cruise controls connected to it as well. Could you guys help me understand how to get the steering wheel controls to work pls Many thanks

Hi all, I have a 2005 1.7 FRV. A while back I had a sudden window issue, the drivers window switch works perfectly but all other windows won’t work from either the master unit or the door switches. I’m feeling the power window lock button has failed in the unit, all fuses fine, I did have to use this regularly as I had young twins playing with the windows, however I want to get the windows going again. I’m happy to fit a new unit before spending the amount I want to ask if anyone has had this issue and what the resolution was, or anyone who has the knowledge to point me right

Hi, I own a 2008 FR-V 1.8 Trend automatic 4-spd, LHD. I'm looking to source new engine mounts, but prefer purchasing from a garage/mechanic/supplier to ensure I'm buying the correct items. I've done some research online, but the best I can find is this: https://www.parts-honda.uk/honda-cars/FR-V/2008/18-1.8-TREND/BODY-PARTS/ENGINE-MOUNTS-18L--AT-/17SJD501/B__4704/6/20644. The above link displays 23 parts, and I have no idea what's right to order. Any recommendations of a garage/mechanic/supplier who could help me would be much appreciated. Thanks much, Daniel

Hi Lads, Im probably going to get lots of biased opinions posting here but I wanted to guage if there is an appetite for bringing the FRV back? I love my FRV but is kinda old and falling apart and I would absolutely love to see one in a new or near-new condition (unfortunately there is none in Ireland). Also with the popularity of cross overs "SUV's" I think with a little style change and slightly higher suspension the FRV would make the absolute megga cross over?!? So, any opinions?? Is there any other FRV fans out there and if so, how many? 🤓🤓

Hi everyone, I have an issue with my FRV where the central locking won't open unless I press the key fob several times. I hear the noise and interior lights turn on but quickly go off and all the doors and boot remain locked. After several presses it eventually opens, when it does the noise (possibly an actuator) is slightly different. Any thoughts?

  25. Hi, the windows on my frv all stopped working at once. Anyone else had the same problem and what did you do to fix it? thanks Paul
