  1. It sounds like it could be a sensor at fault if the DPF and regens are okay then it is the only thing that I would be leaning towards. Maybe that or a software update, worth contacting your Honda dealership to enquire if this is the case
  2. With the amount of rain we have had lately I am not at all surprised that its getting in everywhere. The easiest and most accurate method to determine where water is getting in is to use a Smoke Generator which will leak the smoke out wherever the water is getting in, far easier to see it as well
  3. Hi Matt.....welcome to the Forum Both great cars with superb engines, never miss a beat! Good to have you onboard
  4. Hi Richard....welcome to the Forum I would definitely get this checked out by an auto-electrician or reputable garage as it sounds like power distribution, could even be loose battery terminals causing it Let us know what you find
  5. I find that the branded fuel is not that much more expensive than the supermarkets nowadays so I tend to use the better fuels (esso, bp, shell, texaco) they also have loyalty points which equate to money off in the long term so much lost by not using the supermarkets. Generally tend to also notice the difference in performance but not really an increase in economy though
  6. Its certainly worth trying to ascertain whether it is substandard fuel that could be causing the issue. Also, don't forget the Italian tune-up....always works to clear out the engine 🙂
  7. Well done for having a go yourself, sometimes the best way to learn I know a few of the guys at Highbury and I know they have been going through a bit of a turnover of staff lately which is a shame for the students....lets hope things improve. The crank pulley movement is not a good thing but I don't think its responsible for the belt slippage. If there is a squeal then this could be the PAS pump itself, especially if placed on full lock for an extended period, which is never a good thing anyway. If the belt slips then tighten it some more but it can be detrimental to overtighten it in the first place so just keep an eye on it.
  8. Hi....welcome to the forum I have come across these before and they appear to work quite well. If someone is coming by to steal your cat then if you make it difficult (but not impossible) for them they will probably leave it and move onto another one that is not protected http://www.catsafe.org.uk/
  9. Hi Bob I can see your dilemma. The main problem I see is that rolling diameter will be different and this can cause faults such as the ABS sensing a disparity between this wheel and the others on the car. If you were to see if there is a tyre with a taller profile that would equate to the same rolling diameter then I don't see an issue with using it. As long as the wheel fits the boot well I cannot see why it would fail an MOT though.
  10. Sounds very odd! Hopefully they can nail on Thursday....fingers crossed
  11. Hi....welcome to the Forum Always good to have a fellow mechanic on board....feel free to help out with any technical posts on here if you want to. Cheers . Trevor
  12. Hi Roy Could you please give us some more details about what happened before it packed up
  13. Sounds like it is running on a default setting while the EML is on and that is resulting in it running properly....in which case a sensor setting would be substituted for a known value....e.g. it definitely sounds like an engine sensor at fault
  14. Hi...welcome to the Forums Never had any issues with reception on my CRV radio (SatNav large screen type) so wouldn't say its a known issue Here is a link to one (SatNav version - but don't think the standard version would be any different) https://fave.co/39RD3bj It does show the connector and also the length of loom may give you some idea of where it is likely to be plugged in (my guess it the rear pillar area) Let us know what you find
  15. Hi ....welcome to the forum I would definitely change it on the basis that it is 6 years old, regardless of mileage in that period. As it is a rubber component the belt is subject to perishing over time. Quite possibly the tensioners and idlers should be okay as they haven't done much work so would only need the belt
  16. Hi....welcome to the Forum I would pop to the local Honda dealer who would probably be quite obliging and show you how to connect it up. Let us know how you get on with it
  17. I do wonder if the fuel filter will resolve it but also if they scan it to see if there are any fault codes as may be something like the crankshaft sensor playing up. Would be interested to know what it turns out to be
  18. If the engine turns over at a fast speed (with no resistance from the cylinders pumping) then it sounds like the timing belt/chain has broken. If you remove the oil filler cap and if possible see if the camshaft is turning when someone is turning the engine over on the key and if it is not then it is no longer connected to the crankshaft and its game over Let us know what you find
  19. Glad to hear the CRV is okay now. I used to live in Port Solent and ride my motorbike up to the hill....lovely viewpoint and as for the burgers, what can I say....they're like a three-course meal and that's without the chips! 🙂
  20. Hi Martin.....welcome to the Forum It could be related if a common sensor is providing information to both systems. It may be worth switching off the Stop/Start to see if this makes any difference to the operation of the Cruise Control Let us know what you find out
  21. Let us know how you get on with the fuel filter. I replaced one on my CRV diesel after that was displaying similar symptoms (forgot about that one). By the way, is Micks Monster Burgers still on Portsdown Hill ?
  22. Hi Moss.....welcome to the Forum I owned a CRV for many years and find it a superb vehicle. They of course have their failings but these are so minimal and cheap to resolve. Always looking for any help you can provide to the Forum along the way Good to have you onboard
  23. Hi Charlotte....welcome to the Forum There are stores who sell the discs a lot cheaper than the dealer https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/honda-22-c.asp Good to have you onboard
  24. Hi Ken....welcome to the Forum I would be tempted to trawl the local scrap yards to see what they have there. If its a common alloy then I'm sure they should be widely available Let us know how you get on with finding one
  25. That sounds fair enough to me....would get more from a manual gearbox but for an auto, thats not bad at all
